Yuh could run any pc game at the same 720p resolution and it looks way better, resolution is only a small part of what makes a game look good. Is why The last of us, and uncharted 3 looks radically better than most other games on the platform even though it running at the same resolution. Resolution is not the be all end all of what a machine is capable of, its just a small part. My old netbook from donkey years ago can run 1080p, that doesn't mean its graphical prowess is any good. i.e. smartphones.

Lets concede the point that fewer games run 1080p, let me concede that the majority do infact run at 720p, so what?
That doesn't mean boo, a mobile phone is still not remotely close to producing that type of visuals of next gen, let alone pcs.

The point of the NVidia article was to show just how far ahead pc gaming is than consoles, and he made the point that consoles will never catch up because of the share power draw limitations of the console box.
A mobile phone will never be able to have such power draw, not even if it always connected (like a console).
What u going to load up fans and thing in that sucker now?

I think u miss the whole point of the article and what I was trying to get at.
We already came to agreement that mobile can dominate in other ways.

The point of the aritlce was to show, that it's impossible for consoles, let alone mobile, to catch pc given our current understanding of science. It is literally, IMPOSIBLE!

So how in d name of all that is gamey, can u tell me bout mobile could catch up?
What brand of fig leaf are u smoking, and where can I get some?

The xbox one and ps4 is capable of producing vastly superior graphics to the Snapdragon 800 and Tegra 4. Mobile's latest and greatest. And the next 5 iterations of those mobile chips still not going to be able to produce the kind of visuals that developers will be able to extract from those next gen consoles.

And is PCs I talking bout.

From a purely power/technical ability standpoint, u have to agree, a mobile phone just not remotely close.

If u want to argue that power wont matter, visuals wont matter, cause people will settle for less, ppl go settle for shit graphics and wont care, fine, that's another argument which we already agree on.

But you cant stand there with ah straight face and tell me rubbish bout mobiles could catch up in the graphics race. Insanity.

Also I made the point that 4k right there, and pc gaming already so far ahead, now with 4k to help, d gap going to even increase more, and u say 4k too expensive, I made the point that everything expensive at first.

SSD, Bluray Drives, 1080p Monitors, 3d TVs, they all launched at ludicrous prices.
But it did not take long for said prices to come down, and with Hollywood pushing 4k, you going to get rel cheap 4k monitors in no time. Making them readily available to the PC Crowd, not the ultra high end of PC gamers, d budget men who just want to buy ah cheap monitor that works, it is GOING to be 4k.

And any reasonable pc in the next 2 years Is going to be able to push a pc game at 4k, making the gap between mainstream pc gaming, and consoles, let alone mobile, even that bigger.

I already went and do the research, and you are infact right, I did not realize how shitty consoles is, but like I said, I was thinking in terms of PC, shit me when I researched and see these games on console don't actually run at 1080p.
Tech is tech, science is science and fact is fact, yUh point out something to me, a quick google showed you were right, I could admit I wrong when I wrong, momentary lapse indeed.

BUT!,  its irrelevant to my argument. Even though the games running at 720p is beside the point. Because like I say, that's just a small part of visual fidelity in games. And a mobile device is no where close. When u comparing raw teraflops of what a phone is capable of compared to console / next gen / pc. It is soooooooo far away.

Stop thinking in terms of resolution, and start thinking in terms of computational power.
a game rendered at 720p on 2 PCs can look radically different depending on the settings u enable.

Re-engage d discussion and argue that, don't punk out and go yUh way, better than that.

And again, we not talking bout mobile taking over eh, we eh talking d arcade argument, clearly there are millions of people willing to play shit graphics. I talking straight power, and according to Nvidia, it's impossible for consoles to catch pc, let alone mobile.

PCs are now drastically more powerful than arcade boxes, but im sure if investment was still being made into arcade, it would be the most powerful gaming unit available, but then again, all it would be is a giant super computer in a box.

But PCs don't have that to worry about, because clearly NVidia has a continued vested interest in producing the most powerful pc graphics they can. year after year.

But i'm beginning to detect a pattern with NVIDIA.

When they releasing a mobile chip, they go tout that the gap with desktops narrowing.
When they ready to release a Desktop GPU, they go say mobiles no where near as powerful.. lol .
Seems like all marketing propaganda oui. lol.

When ah get time go research and see what they bringing this time. But until we start seeing d actual games , it all pointless really.

Remember, Nvidia is not a homogeneous entity. I am sure there are factions in the company rallying hard for desktop to maintain a lead, while others pushing the mobile agenda.

Boy like yuh 2015 dream not going to happen after all. Ah think that was d timeframe right?
It coming to come, but a long ways off still. Consoles did much better than I think anyone expected. Millions of units sold by both parties. PC gaming on the rise and doing well. And mobile gaming, actually hit a slow spell. There was much more hype about mobile gaming last year than there was this year or 2015.

It's appeal probably wore off, or could be that consoles stealing they thunder for now, who knows, go see.

I think the prophecy was a 5 year timeline so we have some years to go still.

Nvidia's announcement is definitely a step towards that direction.

If Nvidia begins to join Valve in the war against consoles...we could see some interesting mashups between the two i n the future as mobile processors, android and steamos becomes more and more capable.

But agreed, the showing for 2013 wasn't particularly stellar.

We will see what the end of 2014 brings.

Nvidia as a company has more at stake in the PC space.
It goes against logic that they would push hard for something that could potentially have a negative impact on their slice of the PC graphics-buying populace.  I just can't see it.

In 10 years, I am postulating that mainstream will be the mobile platform. NOT the console.

So looks like the official year for the prophecy to come true is 2022

Plenty time left on the clock. Based on what Nvidia is pushing, I'll say we will hit the mark way before that.
