I not denying android sales, and I not denying that ppl use those millions of phones for mobile gaming lol.
I denying d fact that ppl will give up a PlayStation / Xbox to game solely on that.

No need to repost.

The numbers don't lie.
And the biggest preorders ever says, that all d gamers out there eh giving up they consoles to game on no phone.

When I see evidence to the contrary then I go believe, again, d numbers don't lie lol.

You're arguing over semantics man messiaah.

The two are not connected, which we have already established.

1) Old school gamers will continue to console / PC game (you are a part of this demographic)

2) New school gamers will outnumber us and disrupt the video game industry by making mobile gaming the larger platform in years to come. (like the kid I gave in the example above)

This is the future Nvidia's CEO is envisioning (with which I totally agree)

Nintendo has already done phenomenally well with mobile but what is coming on Android and IOS will make even Satoru Iwata blush.

Enjoy this wave of console fever (as will I) because it is quite likely the last of its kind before the new era dawns.

PS3 graphics is currently mess, by the time that come out, it go be even more mess. Not worried atal.

Again, no denying mobile tech advancing, but nobody using that for main and forgoing a ps4.

As the years go by the gap will remain, if not increase.

lol, the PS4 specs are static and won't change for the next 7 years.

An easy target.

Did I show you the exponential rate at which mobile processing and gpu power is increasing?

Using Tegra 2 in the year 2010 as a base line,

Tegra 3 in 2012 was 3 times faster

Tegra 4 in 2013 was 20 times faster

Tegra 5 (due in 2014) is expected to be 50 times faster

and Tegra 6 (due in 2015) a whopping 100 times faster.

They have the advantage of already knowing the designs of blazingly fast hardware. What is required is simply shrinking the die size and managing thermals. Something the industry has gotten considerably good at over the years.

And with the number of big players pushing the platform, the impetus is there for continuous leaps and bounds to be made.

The PS3 / Xbox 360 will be beat by 2014....and the PS4 et al will have their gooses cooked by 2016

IF Tegra 6 is 100 times faster, then yes console in trouble. But that's ah big iff, to make a chip that could fit in mobile devices that powerful in such a short period of time.

We'll see.

But judging by the current track record of tegra products, im not enthused lol. (Qualcomm is way better).

Snapdragon is impressive but they didn't have a readily accessible iterated roadmap like Tegra.

Making the Nvidia line more useful for illustrating the point. Also, Nvidia has the advantage of current desktop tech that achieves the performance figures they need. Just a matter of shrinking as mentioned before.

So I think they may win the race in the long haul.

Also, their CEO is adamant about the future of mobile so I know he will focus the resources of the company in that direction. lol

Have you taken a look at the gtx 680 and titan and 690 products lately? Those products tell me nvidida is dramatically more invested in desktop architecture than they are at mobile. Like I say, complementary not replacement.

CEO not stupid, of corse he will say the company is full bore mobile. But when it comes down to d products NVidia actually produce, right now, Desktop Line = Pure Epic Sauce , Mobile Line = Crap.

We go see how it pans out. CEOs could say what they want, results is all that matter.

CEO job is to get results.

He knows he will sell 200 million mobile chips.

He may sell 1 million GTX 680 (if so many)

Carry on smartly

To make that point concrete....have a read of this Nvidia article

But why license its proprietary tech in the first place? The answer lies in the "upended" IT world, one that's seeing PCs overtaken by smartphones and tablets.

Dude, why u talking bout these men like they can do no wrong?

THQ, RIM, Nokia, Apple, I can go on and on (all these companies gone, on they way out, or was in trouble, apple was once bankrupt, and had to get a 15 billion dollar influx by Microsoft to keep going, yes MS actually saved apple back in the day).

I'm sure the CEO's back then "knew" what they was doing to. Because ah CEO say it, don't make it gold dread, lol. seriously?

Microsoft probably the only company out of d giants that bank never run low. And even d CEO of Microsoft is capable of making promises that didn't pan out. MS Kin anyone?

You can say ANYYYYHTHID, as a CEO, and u WILL say anything for the media. Results is a different story.

And I already make d point, numbers does not always equal greater profit. Case in point apple, they market share dramatically less, but they is currently d richest company in the world still.

They can sell 200 million mobile chips and make less money eh.

But at d end of d day, non of that matters in this discussion. Presently, the fact of the matter is, tegra is a pile of shit.
There is no denying it, every tegra device sucks in performance when compared to comparative QUALCOMM devices, that's a fact.

Fact is, d mobile revolution u waiting for in a few years, is already taking place in the desktop world, Kepler has increased Desktop processing dramatically, and brought price/performance down tremendously. GTX Titan was juss NVidia wining in AMD face. Kepler product line is truly epic, from a technical, and performance standpoint. Right now nothing is special about tegra, and until I see it, I not believing it.
When nvidida produce d mobile tech to back up what they saying, then and only then I will acknowledge it, I not taking no CEO "word" for it.

technology is not a "faith" based argument, its a scientific and facts based argument, when I see d proof, then I go belive. Until then wyatt, doh even waste my time with promises and conjecture.

nice rant but off topic.

I explained to you that Nvidia had an iterative product line which made it easy to demonstrate the exponential growth in mobile performance.

Tegra showed that with the increase in horse power from Tegra 1 to Tegra 4, which are real word products. Facts not fiction.

Further extrapolated with Tegra 5 and 6 which is on Nividia's roadmap with ETAs and extrapolated performance figures.

I could find no such roadmap for Snapdragon but if you wish to make a relevant contribution, I would be happy to see one.

The bottom line being that 1) Nvidia and other companies believe the future is mobile, not the desktop and 2) the mobile tech is increasing exponentially year to year.

You couldn't find such a road map cuase d people at QUALCOMM probably fully aware of the limitations involved :) (Smart Guys, it's why they chips power the majority of mobile devices lol).

2. Nothing you post says to me that Nvidia believe the future is solely mobile and desktops dead.

3. Like I keep saying, nobody denying the growth of mobile, of corse mobile tech is going to increase, and of course smart companies are going to jump onboard the mobile train. But that don't mean desktop going anywhere.

Take intel for instance, with the launch of Ivy Bridge, everybody start to cry, "ha ha, see what we say, desktop dead, ivy is a mobile product" But yet still we going to get one of the biggest advances in desktop computing for some time, in the form of Ivy Bridge E scheduled for release next year. The upgrade is so significant I WAITING for that before I upgrade my desktop again.

There is evidence to support a gigantic rise in mobile yes, but I eh seeing no evidence to support the death of anything else, quite the opposite.

They are all "rising" together.

And you cannot extrapolate the growth rate of something over the past 4 years and assume it going to continue to increase at the same rate in the next 5 years, technology don't always work like that.

Also, dramatic increase of an already poorly performing product don't mean anything.

Even after a 100 factor increase, mobile will still not be able to scratch a pc.
But I do admit, a 100 factor increase mite give console some cough in it head.

We shall see.
If in 2015, a mobile device is able to outperform a PS4. I go eat the following words with ketchup.

IT EHH HAPPENING!

rofl.

hhhahaha

well said and agreed.

As for the road maps, I think Nvidia is a bit of an industry bully.

They maybe posting their roadmaps so blatantly to scare off competitors. Men might be thinking, no way we could compete with that 100x increase and bow out of the race early. lol

Lol, that's not a tablet, that's a gaming pc/laptop without d keyboard attached lol.

U see d specs?

Processor : 1.9GHZ Intel Core i7 Dual core (Turbo 3.0GHz), 1.7GHz Intel Core i5 Dual core (Turbo 2.6GHz)
 Operating System : Windows 8
Graphics : NVIDIA GT 640M LE (2GB DDR3, Optimus Technology), Intel HD graphics 4000
 Memory : 8GB DDR3 (2x4GB 1600MHz)
 Storage : 128GB, 256GB SSD (SATA-III)
Display : 10.1 HD Multi-touch IPS display, 1366×768 resolution
 Camera : 2MP HD Webcam
Audio : Stereo speakers, Array microphones,
 Connectivity : Intel WLAN (802.11b/g/n + BT4)
 Port : USB 3.0, 3.5mm Audio jack
Features : Dolby Home Theater v4, Codec supports 7.1, GamePad controllers, optional keyboard
 Dimension : / 10.9 x 7 x 0.80 inch / 278.5 mm x 178.85 mm x 19.5 mm
 Weight: 962g / 2.1Lbs

And trying fit all that in a small chassis, d battery life will be atrocious, and it go be hot as hell. And d screen is crap, and crisis will run like balls on that gpu.

Nothing "rising" about this product Wyatt, the NVIDIA shield is applicable, not this. this go fail even harder than shield.
