i can tell you.. that the Xbox's version of Doom III is missing ALOT of polygons and the textures are quite a bit lower res than off the pc version.

 doom III will not have the realistik looking models we all hoped for... but it will still scare the hell out of us.

the xbox's hardware is showings its age, it will not be enough to get the full experience of the next generation games eg:
half life 2
quake 4
doom III

I FIND DOOM III is shit!!! i doh like that game at all....but the halo make xbox and soul calibur 2 and need for speed underground those are the only games i like for xbox

I saw the link AND got my hands on a vid clip of the XBOX version. Comparable to the PC yes it is very noticeable but i can GUARANTEE that the graphics are nowhere NEAR as bad as you think it will be. The shadows are there, bending in light etc. All the detail that is necessary to be shown to make Doom 3 stand out will be shown.

XBOX is still in production, and where you hear this talk about recall? Rumous tend to turn into real strange things after a while. What the RUMOUR is is that Microsoft has already begun production on their XBOX 2 console and plan to have a working prototype out by the end of the year. They are already setting up an XBOX LIVE 2 program and are already negotiating with companies with respect to game. The limited edition HALO XBOX is now out. Transparent green console with HALO bundled with it. The price has also dropped to 150.00 US. Oh and by the way EA is going online with Microsoft soon.

Well if you have a good PC there is no reason. But you seem to be forgeting that not everyone can fork out 4 grand a year for a high end graphics card that could really flex the game on the PC as it should.

the title "the xbox is dying" was meant to make everyone go see...

 i'v played the alpha of the PC version.. the polygon count is   higher than it is  in DIII Xbox, the textures are higher res.

the lighting looks per polygon, we can see all his polygons easily, there is some bump mapping missing.

 more polygons, more detail on bump mapping , the lighting is PER PIXEL like in halo, so the polygons don't show up easily, there is a smooth transition between dark and light

what i'm trying to say is that the xbox has hit its hardware limit with doom III.  We may not see much more of a graphics improvement in future xbox games .

I can agree with that. Doom 3 may very well be the pinacle of the XBOX abilities. I think both will still scare the sh!t out of people anyways, which is what its intention is

 i have THE DOOM III ALPHA... its laggy, no story or plot..  but it gives you a good idea of how the final game will be


the graphics are aaaaammmaaaaaaziiiiiiinnnnnggg

the game is  as scary a silent hill is at the best of times

the game looks better at 800x600 than 99% of other games look at 1600x1200 with AA and all the nice stuff on.

and it lags like heellll on my system

Yes well this IS the fourth generation of XBox games we're seeing isn't it?
The XBox is supposed to start showing it's age.

As for dying,somehow I doubt XBox gamers will be too broken up over Doom3 since they'll be getting the best FPS of the year anyway:Halo 2.

how can you even say q4? you working in ID? you know what engine and features they going to put in? you see a trailer for it or something? NO YOU DIDNT! dont say q4, q4 aint coming any time soon, not this year atleast. not to mention no one knows how it will look like, or what system it requires.

and because the xbox may not run d3 as good as a highend pc will doesnt mean its dying...and to those that say the purpose of d3 is to scare the shi* outa you, then you're very wrong. if you think thats the reason for d3, then you dont deserve to play this holy game.

Actually i should retract my last few words "...which is what its intention is". it isnt entirely true. Even though the game IS scary, it isnt its intention per-se. Its more of an overall gameplay experience. You'll quicker go "WOAH" than "AHHHHHH" if you understand what im saying.
