'Forced Story'?
Utter bollocks. Jaded reviewer is jaded.
Complaining about 'fetch quests' in a game like this is like buying a Windows Phone.
Fetch quests have been a survival-horror trope since the survival-horror genre was 'created' by the original Resident Evil.
The trademark 'atmosphere', sound, and gameplay is all there folks. You won't be disappointed.
Plus...it aint too bad to look at either...
If you liked Dead Space 2...you're gonna LUUUUUUV Dead Space 3. It's that simple, but hey, it's your money.

Is not just ign though, gametrsilers give it a 7.7, gamespot give it a 8
those are some pretty bad scores for what suppose to be a 9.5 rated game. For all these reviewers to collectively agree on something being wrong about ds3...cant just be one jaded reviewer, these same sites give ds2 9s respectively. I'll wait on amazon sale and swipe it for cheap. But if ds3 story is anything like ds1 or if it even worse, then yea its shit. I ah little over halfway through ds1 and d story sucks. Zelda and Mass Effect spoil meh. Fortunately ds1 combat going good enough to overlook d very sucky and poorly told story. Hope the same holds true for ds3 and based on what reviewers saying, that may be exactly the case.

Well, I'll have to respectfully disagree.
The story is far from 'shit'...and the gameplay more than makes up for any issues one could possibly have with the story.
A reviewer's opinion of what makes a good story is just that. An opinion.
If they were good at actually writing good stories themselves, then maybe they wouldn't have a job trying to belittle others.
Folks, the story picks up right where Dead Space 2 left off, but it fills you in very nicely on the 'story so far', and I won't spoil it but lets just say Isaac discovers some compelling new information about the Markers, and the planet Tau Volantis that you eventually crash land on.
So far, it's turning out to be a solid addition to the Dead Space mythos, but hey, that's just MY opinion.

Cool, well lets hope the story gets better, cause from what i see so far in my time with DS1, the story is shit. (My Standards for good story telling is pretty high. Even Gears Of War doesnt satisfy my story needs.)
Games i consider to have good story / well told : Zelda, Mass Effect, Starcraft, Diablo, God Of War, Uncharted (Story itself is crap, but it's well told), Transformers, Just to name a few. DS1 story so far is not only crap, but it's poorly told.
But like you rightfully pointed out, just an opinion. And i can overlook the story once d gameplay makes up for it, and if DS3 gameplay is a refinement of what came previously, its going to be good. I will just set my story expectations low and go into it treating it like ah run and gun. Which is quite disappointing, cause DS franchise could have easily been another Mass Effect trilogy.
I'll reserve final judgment for when i complete all 3 games.
Edit:
Soul Reaver 1, 2 and Legacy Of Kain Defiance (how i could i not mention that trilogy, one of the best stories in gaming i ever experience, them fellers come good.)

Finished Dead Space 3. Normal difficulty, taking my time too complete took about just under 12 and a half hours. that's "long" in terms of some single player action games.
I enjoyed it alot, some great scenarios. i felt more like Dead Space 2 and the first Dead Space. The original Dead Space team (creators of the DS universe and characters) were the guys I worked with at Sledgehammer on MW3 (left EA and joined up with Activision). The other 2 Dead Space games although decent, i thought went for more action and less on scare factor.
I remember the first Dead Space had me quaking in my boots at the beginning watching every corner until i because a little more accustomed.
Enjoyable trilogy.

Wow... You went hard at it boy.
I ain't rushing it... Not buying a lot of games this year so I want to stretch it out as much as possible.
I just reached chapter 5. Haven't even touched down on Tau Volantis yet. Still exploring the ships in orbit.

Cool, will play it from start to finish coop. I see IGN have a dead space in 5 minutes video. Interesting for anyone who have not played the first 2, and want to know what going on before playing part 3.
I started watching it, and the story seem to have picked up at the end of part 1, so i stop watching d vid to experience it myself.
Spoiler Alert:

Just finished Dead Space 1.
The story did pick up. Start off rel slow, and was meh for ah good chunk of d game, but coming down to d end it held it's own. Not the best, but acceptable. The boss fights was nice too.
Now onto Dead Space 2!
