NVIDIA's GTX Titan is rumor no more, as the American computer hardware company unveiled the superpowerful graphics card this morning. With 2,688 CUDA cores, 6GB of GDDR5 RAM, and 7.1 billion transistors packed into the 10.5-inch frame, Titan's capable of pushing 4,500 Gigaflops of raw power --NVIDIA's pitching Titan as the means to "power the world's first gaming supercomputers." The company even showed off the Titan in its mightiest form, bootstrapped to two others running together (three-way SLI), which powers graphics showcase Crysis 3 running at its highest settings: a whopping 5760x1080 resolution across three monitors. Of course, a setup like that would cost you quite a pretty penny; just one GTX Titan costs $1,000, not to mention three (nor all the other hardware required to support it). Should you prefer your gaming PCs to not be of the neon-lit, triple GPU, above-$10,000 variety, NVIDIA was also showing off the Titan in a Falcon Northwest boutique PC. The company's working with a variety of boutique PC makers to incorporate the Titan (see: Maingear), making NVIDIA's top of the line a teensy bit more accessible to your average joe. GTX Titan is the new top of the line for NVIDIA, effectively pushing aside the GTX 690 and setting a new benchmark for performance. Of course, with a $1,000 price tag and freedom -- nay, encouragement -- to tweak its nitty gritty settings, the Titan isn't really meant for your average anyone. The PC game-playing early adopters, however? Here's your next GPU. Hopefully you've got a big, empty space in your rig, as you'll need it.

And the reviews begin to trickle in:

GeForce GTX Titan review
 Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 02/21/2013 02:58 PM | 25 comment(s) ]

We test and review the GeForce GTX Titan. The GeForce GTX Titan is NVIDIAs fastest single GPU based graphics card they have ever built. It is based on the GK110 GPU and has an astonishing 7.1 Billion transistors and is as such is nearly as fast as one GeForce GTX 690 with two GTX 680 GPUs ! We test the product with the hottest games like Battlefield 3, Sleeping Dogs, Far Cry 3, Medal of Honor Warfighter, Hitman Absolution and many more. Next to that with the three samples we have at hand we'll be looking at SLI performance scaling in another article as well.

GeForce GTX Titan 3-way SLI and Multi monitor review
 Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 02/21/2013 02:58 PM | 3 comment(s) ]

We review the GeForce GTX Titan in 2 and 3-way SLI and SurroundView. The boards used are reference from NVIDIA. We'll also hook it up-to three monitors and check out Surround view gaming performance. Over the next few pages we'll tell you a bit about multi-GPU gaming, the challenges, the requirements and of course a nice tasty benchmark session with the hottest games. We'll have a peek at temperatures and power consumption of the GeForce GTX Titan cards in 3-way SLI mode to monitor it's generated performance.

GeForce GTX Titan Overclock Guide
 Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 02/21/2013 02:57 PM | 0 comment(s) ]

Today an article slash guide dedicated on overclocking the GeForce GTX Titan. Can we take it over 1100 MHz ? Sure we can, fairly easily even. Armed with a new trick or two overclocking will never be the same though. But if you want another 10% extra performance out of an already seriously fast Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan, we'll gladly show you how to do it.

Nvidia mad yes.

...and the people willing to ress down hard cash for two and three of these.....?  My goodness.  :laughing7:

This card not worth $1000 US.
The 680 and 690 just as overpriced too.

The day man was willing to pay a grand for a single video-card was the day Nvidia decided that they could continue to dig out we eye with price.

Ridiculous.

From what i've read and benchmarks i observe,
This card has value if u have an issue with SLI.

1 690 outperforms it, and 2 670s will out perform it. At same / lower price points.
Where this card has value is if u have the cash to shell out for 2, 2 Titans will scale much better than quad sli in any configuration, i.e. Dual 690s, Quad 680s.

I was looking to see if it worth selling my 3 680s, to go with 2 of these, but from d benchmarks i seen thus far, 3 680s scale pretty well and keep pace with 2 Titans.

In response to your comment on Price. $1000 is steep no doubt. But the kinda performance you getting at that price point just was not possible before. A single 680 going for like what, $450 on amazon now? And mite be able to find it for less. For what u getting i think thats good price, A single 680 can run any game on max @ 1920*1080 resolution. And u can even go with 670s etc for more value at good performance. Unlike before, when the cheaper cards just couldnt give an acceptable experience in my case.

SLI 680, the 690 or the titan, is meant for men running at 2560*1440/1600 resolution. If you not running those resolutions dont even bother to look at these cards. If you are, then the performance u getting out of these suckers is impressive at the price point. Like all i would love it if it was cheaper. But for what u getting, i doh really think it overpriced when compared with the 850$ price tag of previous cards with far less power than these. In comparison, the ASUS ARES II is $1850.

All in all i still appreciate the technological advancement, the 680 didnt too long release, and they were able to double performance on a single chip. If they keep doing that every year, picture being able to purchase the power of a Titan next year for 500$. Crazy.

Well if a 680 is $450 now, that's great.  I find that's what it should have been all along.
I thought it was still selling for 500+ still.

The only time I ever pay more than 500 US for a video-card was that HD4870X2, which, in hindsight was a terrible investment.
I won't make that mistake again.  Not for a single card.

I think if these GPU makers were to make a paradigm shift with respect to pricing, they will consistently sell out.
Imagine if 'midrange' was $150 US, and 'high-end' was $350...JAH...men woulda be beating down AMD and Nvidia doors.  :laughing7:
Think about how great that would be for PC gaming.

*sigh*

Yes indeed it would be great, but i dont see that happening for a few more years, but they are making progress in that regard. Like i said, long time it was $850 for high end. Now high end can be had for 500$, beyond 500$ u talking ultra high end. But to get a card that can run any game on max @ 1080p for 450$ was not possible back in the day. So progress is being made, just not as fast as we'd like.

If the titan cost 1000$ and under that was juss midrange or low end, then yea, we have problems, but that's not d case.

D catch 22 is, how much juice games like starwars 1313 going to need to look it's best. If gpu requirements for next gen games take a leap, we back in d same boat. But if you're able to run the next 2-3 years of games on a gtx 680 comfortable, then we go see rel good value for we money in the next 2 years.

When games based on UE4 start coming out, we go see how cards handle them, and we go have a better idea of weather we screwed again or not.
