Well Wyatt, now that I have a console that I use for online play, I know exactly how much u hated it.

And another thing, I don't know how it is on PS4, but having to drill down into menus to get to the exact friend in question rely annoying. I so accustomed to "shift+tab, type". Anything else just feels like unnecessary time wasting and annoyance.

Personally, I think both platforms will "win" in their own way. Just like the 50 cent vs Kanye "war". At the end of the day, both artistes made crazy money regardless of who ultimately sold the most records.

that way ppl just look under joinable parties proceed to join, inquire about a cutass session and move from there

I'm inclined to agree with vice here, its a pain to respond to ppl whilst i'm playing a MP online. REGARDLESS of the platform xbo, 360, steam, origin, etc

Steamchat is Ok.  But I want keyboard support on console.  I like how you could give ppl ole talk on cod with text chat in game

I reply between rounds too, but doing shift+tab, typing my reply quick, then going on bout my business, is 100 times faster, than doing it on a console with a controller. I could have time type out 2 paragraphs before the next round start on pc, vs half ah sentence on console.

Point I trying to make it, the console equivalent is inadequate when compared to what I a custom to on pc.

You can't snap messages and then reply with a voice message? Thats assuming the other person is online on the Xbox. For text messages, M$ needs to implement a voice to text feature for that...LOL

You guys need to try to understand where I coming from. Look I know there are "solutions" in place to handle this stuff. I'm saying those "solutions" all suck.


If it faster for me to put down my controllers, unlock my phone, open smartglass, and type the message there, than it is for me to reply on the console in any current available form of communication, then that ain't fast enough for me.


Using my phone to message on console should never be more efficient than using it on the console itself.


On PC, is no separate app, no snap, no voice message nothing. I just hit shift+tab, type, enter, shift-tab. Done. A few seconds. And because it's a quick overlay, it don't detract from my experience too much.


If you already in a voice chat session with whoever you playing with on console, that's fine, at that point you just talk. But apart from that, it sucks.


And its so slowwwwwww. Navigating that Xbox UI to get around (PlayStation too) is too slow for my taste, I accustom to instant access to them kinda thing, and the consoles far from instant.

Well on ps4 yuh simply keep yuh messages in de second tab yuh double tap yuh ps button send yuh message and done. Ah sure xbone have something similar. Since yuh goin and be sendin in between matches anyhow it really matter how quick it is?

Is not just in between matches alone, we could nitpick and find various specific scenarios, but is all combined making d system crap.

I could now start KI, and just going to my friends list to find Redlum to send him a message does be so annoying.
Once we in a game and voice chat on that's fine. But the initial process of getting to that chat sucks. I don't want to have to put nothing in no tab. Make no group and leave it open, start no voice, non of that. On pc, any game I playing, chat is always 1 shift+tab away. Quick, fast and easy. Then there is d fact that I on a keyboard so actual texting easy.

I so annoyed at console, I will literally stay in KI on the menu screen, and pickup my phone, and send messages from smartglass.

Console chat solution can be a lot better, I not impressed. Smartglass and PS app is stop gaps, that works for now. But if u don't have a keyboard, that's one issue that could never fix. But making it easier and faster to initiate a chat session, or responded to messages from different players, in different games, etch etc. all can be improved a lot.

And having access to those same messages when I'm NOT gaming, is also important. Which is one thing the consoles starting to fix with relative success.

Ah using Xbox Chat system since launch, and compared to PC, I hate it. Smartglass is the only saving grace.

I guess it depends on what you playing at the time...if a person playing BF4 or COD, they not going to want to reply to messages while in the heat of battle, they wait till after the round finish to reply. Thats MP related, obviously playing a single player game, it can be paused and you can respond to any message at your leisure. But consoles have become more of a multi-player online environment that has voice chat and party systems for talking to friends. Rarely do I get text messages or send any on console...its so...tedious LOL
