What Does PS4's Blinking Red Power Light Mean? Some IGN users and a few other folks online are reporting problems with their PlayStation 4 -- a mysterious, blinking red light atop the hardware. Many feared ahead of the console's launch that this "red line of death" indicated PS4's fail state, meaning the next-gen console was dead. This is not the case. Here's the deal.If you boot your PlayStation 4 and find yourself staring at an ominous red line, it means your PS4 is overheating. But don't fret -- it's not bricked, it hasn't melted, and it won't explode. The machine just needs time to cool down, so step away and try again later. If you have persistent issues or if your PS4 breaks for other reasons, check IGN's PS4 problems wiki page or call Sony's customer service support line at 1-800-345-SONY (1-800-345-7669).
A number of PlayStation 4 owners appear to have non-functional units that all suffer the same problem, a so-called blue light—or blue pulse—of death. We can't tell how many and assume it's a small but noteworthy minority. 456PThe problem is being cited in scathing Amazon reviews, a trickle of Twitter complaints and a stack of videos on YouTube—as well as in more than a dozen e-mails and Tweets received by Kotaku since the console's launch on Friday. PSony hasn't offered any official comment to Kotaku on the matter, but a representative on the official PS4 support forums did post a lengthy set of step-by-step troubleshooting tips today. That post, on a thread entitled "[INFO] Blinking Blue Light PS4 Issues," doesn't offer any surefire fix. PFrom what I've heard, those with this issue have found that the best solution still involves sending the unit back—either directly to Sony or to the retailer who sold it to them, if an exchange is available....http://kotaku.com/ps4-blue-light-of-death-has-no-clear-fix-yet-1465979487
The console's Amazon rating—with its more than 600 five-star reviews—has been dragged down by nearly 400 one-star reviews, many of which cite the blue light problem:
Like I said from before, trust ah Japanese company over a well established US tech company, shit like this is bound to happen. I loss all faith in the technical networking abilities of Sony Engineers since the PSN outage. I agree with arc, all that hoopla, on top of which u charging man for, all them pre-orders, and u couldn't throw up some more servers? Stueps. And I agree with Redlum, MS Azure service being used for corporations all over the world, ah highly doubt they going to experience this kinda issue at launch.Poor game reviews, systems breaking, PSN Crash, ah mean, how else could a console launch go wrong?Well, the ball in Microsoft court now, just how Sony bone them at E3, they have the perfect opportunity to rub it in Sony face, but MS is not a company like that, They would never come out and say "ha ha Sony" like Sony did Microsoft. They should though lolol.Like I said before, Sony bad ju ju come back to bite them now.
