Dead Space... The surprise franchise that blew everyone...away.  (hehehehe)  :laughing7:

Dead Space 2... Refinement of the 'action-horror' sub-genre.  Outstanding sequel.

Looking forward to this one since E3 2011.  Yep.   It's been that long.
Origin shenanigans have kept me from preordering it though.

Remember the 'paying for unlocks' debate?  No?

This one should jog your memory a bit...
http://kotaku.com/5978870/why-can-you-pay-for-weapons-in-dead-space-3-because-of-mobile-gamers-apparently

I have no issues with DLC per se, once it's not game-changing stuff, like a costume.  Things like that are purely optional.
However, when you make something that basically makes the game easier obtainable only by DLC, and not skill/progression, well...

I'm of two minds about this.
One one hand, I don't have the time for in-game 'grinding' any more.  Adulthood has seen to that, so it might be nice to get a leg up by buying some 'help'.....but on the other hand, if gamers keep supporting this model we may end up seeing more of the Capcom-type shenanigans, where you're paying for already-finished product as day-one 'DLC', which goes against the original spirit of what it was designed for.

There's always a choice not to buy into it, I guess.

i dont mind if they buying stuff that still will be available at the right time for us regular people.

once they dont make gaining an item so ridiculously hard that you HAVE to buy it... orr... offer exclusive items for purchase only.

If it's just pay to get an item early... i okay with that... it'll be just like cheats in a game.. except the developer making money of it... dont want it.. dont use it...

cant wait for ds3 to be released on pc doh!!

My worst fears, confirmed.

That micro-transaction business is really a sordid one.
I stopped buying Capcom's games because of that very sort of nickel-and-diming.  Yes, I'm looking at YOU Street Fighter.  :(

...and it looks like you won't be able to get any of that stuff unless you buy it.  Not cool EA...not cool at ALL.

Gamers really have to vote with their wallets on this one.
I for one, won't be buying ANY of that extra shit.  EA could keep ALL.  I just want the game.  Full stop.

'The day a £40 game unexpectedly forces me to spend more money is the day I take it back to the shop, but Dead Space 3 developer Visceral has now explained several times that this will not be the case. The studio told Eurogamer that anything available to buy via micro-transactions can be obtained through the natural collection in the game. It was a point that the Dead Space 3 executive producer Steve Papoutis reiterated this week.'

i have too much game to play boy, i now trying to hammer through dead space 1.
I wasnt into the controls at first, felt too clunky, mass effect 1ish. But it's growing on me.
The story not doing it much for me either.

What i do appreciate about dead space is the NEED to use different weapons. most other games, u just level up yuh bess weapon and u can play the entire game with just that. In dead space it's almost a utility to use different weapons for different enemies if u plan to leave d area in one piece.

I'm in the middle of chapter 6, not too much longer i hope. Then to hammer dead space 2, and then 3.

...Hold d phone, dead space 3 release already? :S wah d mug .
And i was rel holding off buying that because i hate origin. Any possibility of d game releasing on steam?
And if i order now, will i get any pre-order bonuses or i done loss out?

I think as of Mass Effect 2 Origin is EA exclusive for PC. So unfortunately no Steam. I sent an tweet to Origin regarding this bs of spanish and euros for origin in Trinidad . I asked for a justification and explanation. Otherwise it look like greenmangaming and amazon digital ftw.

You may get the bonus stuff still if you get it today. Not sure. Works different with cconsole. Since its a disc first wave has the bonus content. As long as you can find a store you good.

btw i hear you on too much game to play :( I have to just stick to areas that i work in (FPS). Im trying to finish Hitman, XCOM, Far Cry (dont like it but playing because YOU - the gamers- do), Dishonored....man a LONG list of games.

Anyway back to Dead Space......AKSHAN....like...

EA and Valve get rather frosty since Origin's launch.  The Crysis 2 shenanigans didn't help matters either.

From now on, all EA top tier franchises on PC are Origin exclusive.  I don't like it either, but if I want to play their games, I don't have any other choice.  :ko:

I literally CANNOT WAIT to get home this evening. :laughing7:

Seeing some initial reviews. Some comments to these reviewers who have NEVER MADE A GAME IN THEIR LIFE....like EVER.

Kotaku - Dead Space 3 is boring - translation (I was playing on easy)

EGM - But if you’re looking to get scared, this is anything but survival-horror. - Translation (I was playing on easy)

list goes on. Essentially on Easy (most of these reviewers play on easy) you have a fuckton of ammo. From the time you hit normal and move up you have to conserve ammo - survival horror staple

however I do agree with some things. The enemies are similar/same (only played under 2 hours so far, this can change). so it wont freak you out

Also I am almost CERTAIN these reviewers (possibly all of them) were on a tiny ass tv (which they have at their desk) with the volume low or off because dood, the ambiance is THERE

Also i see someone played it with Oculus Rift! Holy SHIT! I want

I watched the IGN vid review, they give it a 7.8 :S But the points he made as to why he gave it such a score seem to be warranted. He claims the combat and game design is top notch, arguably the best of the generation.

But the story and level pacing and fetch quests detract the game from being truely epic.

He liken the loot to diablo 3 as well. Saying playthrough 2 and 3 is where the meat is.

Ill still get it, but when it cheap.
