Huge news for the Wing Commander faithfuls.

Our deliverance is neigh.

Look to the skies in 2014, Star Citizen cometh.

http://gamerant.com/star-citizen-spaceship-image-gallery-10-million/

Judging from their hugely successful fundraising efforts thus far, this should be a game that will achieve everything its creator dreamed of.

Bring back that sci fi goodness to the PC platform.

I for one...CANNOT WAIT.  Been following it's development since September 2012...yes...that long.   :awesome:

...and it doesn't launch till 2014.

Already reserved my 'Arbiter LTI' package.

If this doesn't tickle your fancy about this upcoming title, then leave NOWWWWW...

Epic in scope.  I don't even...   :awesome:

This game is a dream come true for space combat fans.
It's going to make Strike Suit Zero look like kindergarten.

http://robertsspaceindustries.com/about-the-game

I'll be screaming through space on combat patrol, interdiction, strike, and escort missions in one of these babies...  :happy0203:

Can't WAIT for the alpha.
I've already found and and been accepted into a guild...yes, I'm dipping my toes into those daunting waters.
I'll have to manufacture time to actively play this when it drops.

Star Citizen will feature an economy system 'equally in-depth' to its combat

- Star Citizen, Chris Roberts' crowd-funded space exploration game, will feature a deep economy system affected by player actions, according to a post on Roberts Space Industries. The lengthy update provides details on how the system will function in-game. According to the post, the game's economy is "built to represent millions of entities" within the universe that work together to build and transport resources and goods.

"Miners and other resource gatherers work to extract basic resources from the available supply, traders collect those goods and deliver them to other places, escorts protect those convoys from harm (while pirates attempt the opposite), refineries turn the raw goods into processed goods, and factories collect these processed goods to build the finished products that are in demand on worlds throughout the Star Citizen universe," the post reads. "These goods are not assigned an arbitrary fixed price at each location. Instead, we are creating an organic system that keeps track of how much of everything is available, how much it is needed, where it is needed, and what individuals are willing to pay to get it."The post adds that NPCs will participate in this process as well, and that players may "step in wherever they wish to take part."

The update does mention that as the game is still a work in progress, the economy is subject to change. You can watch the video above for a brief explanation on how Star Citizen's economy works, or check out thefull update.

I posted the Econ vid above, but yeah...it deep.  FRIGHTENINGLY deep.

My biggest concern is the backend infrastructure that supposed to host/run all this epicness.
RSI might have to invest in a Cray.

I love the concept and the depth described.

I also like that it can be automated or player driven.

Some days you want to be the marine, other days, you just wanna be an SCV mining minerals. lol

The day has FINALLY arrived, as backers get access to the first 'playable' pre-alpha module of Star Citizen...

http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/06/04/star-citizens-arena-commander-module-now-available-for-backers/

I could not help but dive right into the free-flight mode...

http://youtu.be/z-oiRp7xM7E

The 'flight' model and newtonian physics model is scarily spot-on.

It's glitchy...but remember this is in pre-alpha state, and what CIG has achieved thus far is downright AWESOME.
Remember what I said about this game making Strike Suit Zero look like kindergarten...?  Yeah...pretty much that.

if this game pulls off what it plans to achieve itll be prob the best game ive seen
It reminds me of what EVE online about but actually fun :P (altho EVE is fun for the ppl that actually play it)
EVE for me just looked to point and clicky and boring

this is more hands on approach, ur directly controlling ur ship and avatar and it plans to do all what CCP been tryin with EVE/DUST/Valkyrie but in 1 game

There's a surprisingly deep economy system planned as well that's supposed to exist within the framework of the 'Persistent Universe' that will generate missions based on interactions with players and NPCs.

Said missions might turn into rather epic battles depending on what sector of space it takes place in.

There's also a ship-boarding element as well, played from a first-person perspective, where factions can attack, board, and commandeer bigger ships, so yes, you don't
even have to be a pilot.  You can be a marine that gets to run and gun.

All pretty ambitious stuff.
I get giddy trying to contemplate it all.

i try not to get giddy on any games these days till i see a more finished product and not dreams of whats planned/what it could be

too many games over the years have had grand ideas that ive fell for that never deliver on their grand ambitions.

Wing Commander was epic yet simple. I hope that essence isn't lost in the complexity on offer here.

Stoked and can't wait to see the final product!
