Now you can get up to speed...story-wise: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/what-you-need-to-know-about-metal-gear-solid-before-playing-mgs5-ground-zeroes/1100-6418103/

Quote
Metal Gear Solid is often dismissed as having a bit of a hokey plot, full of silly, overwritten contrivances and screens of flowing exposition. It's true, of course: the series has all of those things in abundance, but I've always got a real kick out of spending time with Kojima Productions' dense narratives and conflicted characters. I've even got a notebook in my parents' attic somewhere filled with Metal Gear Solid 2 speculation and theories (and I'm still convinced that game was all a VR dream, no matter what Metal Gear Solid 4 might have said).

It's a confusing series, then, but an iconic one that I think is worth the time investment. It's also about to kick off all over again, with Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes being released in just under two weeks. Ground Zeroes is the first time Big Boss has been the star of a console title in 10 years, and his story continues from where it left off in 2010's PSP title Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

It's a game that you might just want a bit of a refresher course in before you take the plunge, so here's a brief (well, about as brief as Metal Gear Solid gets) overview of everything that's happened to Big Boss since his first appearance. Hopefully it will help prepare you for Ground Zeroes. You might want to get comfortable, though, because there's a lot of information here, and that's with me actively trying to make it concise.

The reviews not looking good...mostly.

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2014-03-18-critical-consensus-metal-gear-solid-proves-that-size-does-matter

I want to play it eh...but oh GOAR boidanKonamidanboi.  :(

Eurogamer says "You can't put a price on class like this,"
I disagree..you bloody well can, and $30 US ain't it.

I am sorely disappoint.

No deal.

EDIT

Well boy... I have to say I was wrong (kinda) about this one.
Went by a pardner and see it in action...and I was floored by what I saw in person.

Yes, I admit it...I'm a graphics whore, and Fox Engine delivers...in SPADES.

Went home and PROPMTLY spend mih morney on it.

I only played it for about 15 mins thus far, but man...it feels so familiar...like MGS4.

The lesson here folks, is not to knock it before you've tried it.  Advice that I myself need to follow more often :laughing7:
(Well, everything except so-called 'high-end audio'...still think dais a pack a ass....but I digress).
I'm glad that I was actually able to try it first though.  That's what made my mind up for me.

Still think it should be $10 US cheaper though, but ah giving Konami the bligh (this time) because is MGS.

...and MGS just feels 'right' on Playstation.  Is it any coincidence it performs better too?  :happy0203:
I still think Konami coulda gee Hayter back de Snake wuk, but Sutherland is wha dey giwwe, so he'll have to do.

I got it played a while and was amazed by what you can do and how it looks and it just feels right just have to wait patiently for phantom pain to drop.

Hmmm...I'd say a tentative 'yes'.

$30 US is still sort of a bitter pill to swallow, but a pardner told me you can easily pad out the total amount
of gameplay to about 6 hours if you engage in every last activity it affords.

I'll be taking my time with this one.  :laughing7:

Well well well.

387 minutes later for the 'main' Ground Zeroes mission, I hereby take back EVERYTHING I said which may have cast a negative light on this game.

This is one of those titles that you really don't know just how awesome it is until you play it for yourself.
While it's true that you can complete that mission in 20 minutes...WHY would you want to?
There are SO many ways to poke and prod at the base's defences it ain't even funny.  Just the soldier-interrogation minigame makes terrorising and eventually
dispatching them that much satisfying.  Now that I know what to do, and how to do it properly, I WILL
be playing the main mission over, in super-stealth, no spotted (hopefully) mode, and then balls-out, shock-and-awe, weapons-free mode. :)

The gameplay seems like an upgraded model of MGS3, especially the 'stick-em-up' game where you can surprise enemies if you sneak up on em.
I won't spoil anything, but lets just say, the 'empty magazine' will become your FAVOURITE weapon.

...and being the graphics-ho that I am...it would be remiss of me to ignore just how abso-bloody-lutely GORGEOUS Fox Engine renders this game.
Konami have outdone themselves here.  Guess which platform running it the best though.  :happy0203:
I didn't say it eh... http://www.pushsquare.com/news/2014/02/metal_gear_solid_5_ground_zeroes_looks_best_on_ps4_says_kojima

This title is a solid vindication of Fox Engine, and MGSV in general.  If the full game is anywhere nearly as awesome as this
I am now SERIOUSLY anticipating The Phantom Pain.  It has now jumped several places on the 'must-buy' list for PS4.

Forget the naysayers... Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is very much worth your time, AND your 30 US.

There...I said it.

Do not walk...RUN and buy (download) this game.   (+)

Konami also announced today a patch and a game update for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. The latest title update, available May 1, will unlock and allow all players to access the Deja vu and Jamais Vu missions, which were previously available as exclusives for PlayStation and Xbox platforms, respectively.

The Deja vu mission is based on events from the original Metal Gear Solid and has you playing a low-polygon Snake. The Jamais Vu mission, on the other hand, references the 1998 game Snatcher. You play as superhuman ninja cyborg Raiden in this content.

Allyuh ent play it YET!?

Poor allyuh.  :laughing7:

Ah boy...more MGS for everyone.   :)

Still doh mind playing it on PS4.
It's still more than enough for Fox Engine.

...also, less hassle with linking my Ground Zeroes progress.

Is Ground Zeroes coming to PC as well?   Didn't see that mentioned.
