My laptop Isnt workin properly

my laptop doesnt work without the charger plugged in

Does the battery charge when the adapter is plugged in? And if it's not staying on without the adapter I'd say it's most likely a battery problem.

Depends on the model and brand. With some Dell laptops once the batteries cannot hold a charge anymore, the laptop would have chronic problems like the one you explained. Chronic turns into a constant problem as the battery further deteriorates.

Post some more info about your laptop and we will try our best.
Ex. Age, Upgrades, Damages, Warranty, Make/Model.........etc

I had that problem with my old Dell XPS M1530 last year ended up being the battery. Also if it's been used without surge protection that could have damaged the battery too. But as Slaming said there are alot of variables to consider so post what he suggested and we will see
