Buying the right Mouse

Is there some sort of things you look for in a mouse aside form 'Hand feel'?
Price, buttons, dpi? what are the things One should look for when purchasing a gaming mouse?

I believe its based on what you desire. Crackerz jus got a mouse that has 12 extra buttons on it. I wouldn't know what to do with more than 2 but he plays WoW and even with DOTA he has a lot of shit macroed to his mouse. Dpi is also important to an extent. You really only feel the effects of a high dpi mouse on full rez. Someone playing on a 17" screen at 1024 x 768 would jus be annoyed with a high speed mouse.

The rat 5 you have is supposed to be one of the best for FPS last i checked. It's giving out on u??

I suspect there is a driver issue, but when i try to move my mouse smoothly 'diagonally' across the screen, there is a lot of waver in the cursor and it is Molesting me in DoTA.

Going home to install new drivers and see if it helps

My recommendation is to look for a logitech mouse.

I buy 2 seperate raser mambs, they both spoil, and i had a saitek  and that spoil too.

Logitech does run rel long.

Doh know wahs yuh budget like.
But i recommend the Logi G700.
Enough buttons for any games.
Macro support.
Nice DPI.
Wireless.

That Logitech G700 is SO good, I have TWO. 

One for my PC, and the other for use with the PS3 Eagle Eye.


The only reason I haven't tried the R.A.T. 9 yet is the price...but then
the G700 is so good I may not have to.

Perfect number of buttons for shooters and MMOs/RTSs.
Also glides superbly if you use the right mousepad.

I too was studying to try the Rat9, but double d price of a logitech? and less buttons? and less durability? It just wasnt making sense oui.

Arc, wah mousepad u using, i end up using my leftover razer mamba mousepad. SemiHard surface. G700 works aite on it, but i have a feeling it can be better. Had a nice cloth mat back in d day, wah u running now?

I dunno i've never been one for a wireless mouse. Unless the mousepad can charge in via inductive charging, then meh..

G700 = bestest mouse on the planet. could also be used wired.

might need a second mouse for diablo 3 tho, those clicks feel like i destroying the mouse.

i have 2 mice, 1 for daily use, (mx revolution), and g700 for gaming.
Why i have a separate mouse is becuase.
The auto quick scroll logitech has, does not work on their gaming line.
And its invaluable when browsing the net. click scroll when going slow.
But if u flick d mouse wheel fast, d mouse wheel unlocks automatic and away u go.

D gaming line u have to use a button to swap it.

So i jus have my g700 pluged in charging all d time, when ready to game, unplug and go.

But like berserk said it can be used wired, because d charger for it is actually a usb cable.
So if u run out of juice, and want to game still, no biggie, plug it in and away u go.

I personally have no issues with diablo 3. Logitech mouse make to take jam, so jam it.

My first "gaming mouse" is a 'basic' Razer Abyssus.
yet to game on it due to exams, but in 8 days time I will learn what the difference.

Has hardware switch for different dpi resolutions, which is cool.

Vote for g700 too, besides the features I love the feel and weight, that is important to me. I have an imperator from razer and I find it is too light ( personal preference)

Also u have to decide what you want the material on the buttons to feel like, the imperator has a rubberish texture that wears away over time

Obviously this is only if you wanna get rel picky

I have sworn by logitech as the input device of choice for gaming (and gamers) over a decade.

Still stand by those words (and practice what I preach using the same logitech Deluxe plus keyboard and Mx500 mouse for aeons)



Like Arc and others....those Logitech Mice worked so great, I bought two.

The DPI is 800 on that old mouse, which isn't stellar considering new mice can do 5000+. Still, it is tried and true.

Upgraded a few years back to a Logitech G9x (which has interchangeable housings, weights and supports on the fly DPI adjustments from 200 - 5000.





Strangely, the feel just wasn't superior to that trusty Mx500 despite the various configurations so now the G9x is my laptop mouse. lol

Old faithful ftw.

If the Mx500 died and a replacement had to be found....would consider either the spiritual successor the G500




or based on the recommendations in this very conversation, its wireless brethren the G700.




Price difference is negligible.

when I chopped up my LAN-party rig years ago.

Well that's is d exact mouse mat i have.

I had an Xtrac mouse mat that was dam good too, between that and d razer i eh know wah better, but d razer made to take licks, d xtrac eventually wore out.

It depends also depends on what type of hands you have and if you claw your mouse (fingers only) or palm grip (whole hand)  I claw my G9 because it is a short mouse so take that in mind if you gonna get the G9x

You also have to think of the size of you hand in comparison to the mouse and if you have sufficient real estate to have your hand resting comfortably.

I have a logitech G9 which I bought in August 2009 and still kicking ass like a champ!!



The mouse pad is a cloth one from steelseries and works beautifully with keeping my G9 sliding along ever so smoothly. Still in really good condition, no rips or discolouration and still feels wonderful to the touch 




Just my 2c and was thinking of getting the Razor Deathadder as a backup mouse but I'm wondering if it is as durable after what Messiaah said happend to TWO of his   

I wanted to get a larger mouse to palm grip to see which one feels better but say what that G700 looking more appealing right now....

Can't go wrong with the G500 at all. Been using it nearly two years now absolutely no issues. That and the steel series cloth mousepad work very well together too!

Also @ red, razer = shit yes. i pay 150$ ah pop for those mice, BOTH spoil, never again. 1 spoil withing 2 weeks, the other lasted about 1.5 months. i Still have them their, looking brand new, in d nice glass box and thing, d mouse jus eh working. Talk bout epic fail, but if u really want to get it, how bout buying mines? Original packaging and everything
