^Most recent TV spot.

How's the hype for this movie back in good ole T&T?
It's like non-existent on Facebook for me.
Going to see it tonight... REALLY excited!

Don't watch that much Youtube and tv to have seen the trailer for this until now, also not a big movie fan so i hardly ever pay attention to the threads here >_<

Looks interesting though, i will say that (jus watched the trailers lol)

does look intriguing

Think I'll wait for the small screen release though. Still have so many movies to catch up on.

may have to change my tune.

I see the imdb rating is looking quite impressive at 8.2

That score is in the "silver screen" territory

That 8.2 is about fair. Took it in last night with some friends, the story seemed decent, but the pace of the movie, again trying to pack a book into ~2 hours did not help. A number of things were left unexplained, but it did not hinder the movie too much.

Also was not a fan of the "free camera" scenes, almost too shaky to fully discern who is fighting, and who is winning until the camera stops.

 :shakehead:

that's just sad =/

Went opening night (Friday) with my sister, and being among all the hardcore fans to see "The Hunger Games" was an awesome experience.
Like half the audience was dressed in Hunger Games t-shirts and merchandise (Mockingjay pins etc..)
Audience even cheered when the movie started, during and ended!
The best part was knowing that most people read the books as you hear the reactions to various memorable sequences in the book.

Anyway, the movie itself was a well-done adaptation of the book.
There were a few changes and additions that made the movie flow well and make sense to the general audiences.
I was a bit disappointed with one particular change where the makers basically took the "hunger" out of "the hunger games".
This is what happens when you adapt a book into a movie lol, having to summarize a few things.
Either way, I still thoroughly enjoyed the film.
The "Rue" sequence was excellently done with the additions they made.

Highly recommend to everyone, though I know many will love to hate on this film.
It does have the "shaky camera" styled filming at times and that might kill it for some people.

I still loved it though.
It's one of my overall favorite films now :)

Can't wait for Part 2 and currently reading the 3rd book.

Have to admit.. I left that movie feeling.. meh.
The details that made the 1st book heart wrenching were removed.
Her phenomenal starvation, actual hunger.
The death scene's which were much more intensely described lacked some of the expected drama.
Considering that when you take a book that is 75% 'in a characters head' and then try and have it acted out on screen without any narration, it loses some of the impact.

By the third book i hated the series. the main character becomes such a whiny little shit.

Event Horizon was distubing....very disturbing...speaking of which, I'm off to comment in the Walking Dead thread.

@ mez, I often find people who read the books before seeing the movies unable to appreciate the silver screen rendition as much as those who came in with no prior knowledge of the material.

It is asking too much to expect a 1 to 1 translation going from hundreds of pages of text down to a measly two hours of screen time.

For me personally, I'm tired of being disappointed with book adaptations being sub-par and not true to the source material.
For that reason, I've accepted that no movie could ever fully capture a book's content.
I enjoy the movies for what they are, and overlook the differences.

The movie has to be REALLY bad for me to complain about it.
At least for The Hunger Games, they did a great job.

@ Mez, yes I'm reading and seeing what you mean by the main character being whiny in the 3rd book.
Hopefully that's a change they make in the movie when it comes lol.

Anyway, to those that see the film, I recommend reading the book. As mez stated, you'll read the true "hunger" in the games and more detailed, somewhat graphic violence that they hid in the movie for a PG-13 rating lol.
Do not go reading that book expecting Tolkien quality literature though...It's not the best written novel by any means.

I liked it ....but it would've been better is Katniss narrated what she was thinking in those numerous pauses throughout the film

it would've given the audience a greater depth and explain alot of her actions which I'm sure alot of people misunderstood

who didn't read the book....
