iPhone dilemma
« on: March 14, 2012, 08:09:29 PM »
SO.... what had happen was...      Le GF is considering joining the Apple minions. Here's the sitch she is contemplating buying the phone in the US and keeping her blackberry plan, which would allow the phone to get data but not pay the retardedly expensive package from le bmobile. Anyone have any experienc in this matter? If she buys it away it will be like 1000TT more BUT her data plan will be 200$ less per month.

I think W1nTry mentioned something about them locking down on that kind of thing, they will be moving towards making each plan phone specific...might be wrong, but W1nTry could probably shed some light on this...

OK well basically you enter the apn (provided its bmobile and not digicel) 'internet' and voila, thats it, if you're lucky it will work, if not tough. I have tried this on both android and wp7 and it works. You get crappy edge, but it works. Now onto the other part.... apparently TSTT is aware of this and may be in the process of rectifying this 'loophole'. I can say atm its hit and miss, e.g. uwi is particularly bad edge didn't work, but in other areas it seemed to. Otherwise she'll just have to lime with WiFi until a provider comes up with a reasonable plan.

I must further emphasize the "crappy" some places work ok other areas no edge at all. What is confusing is that poor service even outdoors in downtown port of Spain.

I've always suspected that bmobile gives higher priority to blackberry users since I see friends chatting away on bbm while I am stuck with no edge service....

Its not the UWI has poor coverage for edge, its just during the day XD.

Very high traffic area, every other student has a blackberry. When its after 7pm works fine lol
