Once the game play isn't too arcade style I'll give it a shot, with that game engine, i sense needing a decent GPU. hmm..

The big mech warrior looking thing.

F2P is the way a lot of games are going now, and why not? Look at how much money TF2 makes as a FPS and even more so in the RTS genre. So if you make a GREAT game and F2P with purchasable content, GG.

We'll just have to wait for more news on this.

...ah, but THAT game did not make use of CryEngine3.

Crytek have already established a very high pedigree. Even with a F2P model, I'm ~~hoping~~ sure that this won't disappoint.

team fortress is a success yes

but it is a radically different beast from the typical FPS. Appeals to a different kind of gamer and psyche.

WarFace looks like it is targeting the Battlefield 3 crowd.

I don't think they are the "swipe my credit card online to buy a new hat or gun decoration" crowd

To me, they are the exact kind of people that will revolt at the concept and would merrily play the free portion while deftly avoiding the "pay" part.

We'll soon see later this year.

Hmm...now Crytek trying their hand. I liked the multiplayer in Crysis 2, not so much the nano suit features. Battlefield on the Cryengine sounds good to me.

tbh, I don't think the cryengine is much superior to the graphical splendour and mechanics in frostbite 2

When I'm playing Battlefield 3, I'm never thinking...damn, I can't wait for them to give us better graphics. lol

What I would love, is like arc slyly suggested....a Battlefield 2142 experience.....that is, futuristic ish ftw

The mech does hint at that, though the other weapons in the trailer looked sort of low tech.

still not convinced F2P is the model for such a game but would love to be proven wrong.

...but you CAN admit that at least technically, that CryEngine3 is a cut above the rest, right? Including Frostbite 2.

Just look up the phrase 'Parallax Occlusion Mapping' and you'll understand why I say that.

The only thing that Frostbite 2 does better than CryEngine3 is the visual effect of a flashlight in your face, and blinding sunlight.

Well my point is this....its not superior enough to make a jump of platform worthy for any but the most extreme techie. Defined as someone who would know what 'Parallax Occlusion Mapping' meant without hitting google.

To the uninitiated, you'd be hard pressed to find fault with BF3's graphics.

And that "high tech" crowd, aren't the ones best known for forking out $$ on free2play knick knacks.

You basically have to strong arm them into giving out there cybermoney. Hardware they'll gladly pay for....but beyond that....pressure.

just my opinion of course, could be wrong.

Come later this year we could see Awesome forking over $2.99 to get a glowing Green Beret in WarFace.

We'll soon find out

It's not at all about the graphics for me. I'm interested in the game physics, the way the weapons feel and the map design. I'm expecting a fast paced BF3 style game, except without the frostbite 2 bullet physics and all the other goodies.

agreed...but again, I don't think Crysis 2 offered a superior experience to battlefield 3 in that respect either tbh.

The real selling point was the suit....and I don't see that hinted in the WarFace trailer....that is, some sort of overpowered battlesuit to differentiate the game from Battlefield 3. Cloaking, Armor, Power Sliding, Slamming from above, etc...

Think they will include those sort of mechanics?
