The next Medal of Honor game is coming this October.

According to the latest issue of the Official Xbox Magazine, the game is called Medal of Honor: Warfighter. The sequel to the 2010 reboot is again being developed by Danger Close studios and follows the story of Tier 1 Operators. Multiplayer is being developed in house this time, not by DICE.

The game also uses the Frostbite 2.0 engine, the same engine that powered Battlefield 3.

EA will have more to show at the Game Developer's Conference in San Francisco next month. In the meantime, check out the new OXM for more details, interviews, and screenshots.

The first image of the game was posted on the official Medal of Honor website today.

hmm without dice at the helm for the multi, not so sure about this.

The MOH franchise has become stale. Even a very nice multiplayer in the last MOH made by dice only got mediocre play...because of the name.

Didnt help that there were little to no maps released after launch.

Unless this next iteration is out of this world I think history will repeat itself.

What we REALLY need is someone to come along to show activision et al how a fast paced run and gun should be done in 2012.

Activision, iw etc is clearly still stuck in 2005 cod2 days. We need something new and MUCh better!!!

I'm interested in seeing what danger close can do with the new Frostbite engine in both single and multiplayer.

Well, now that we've seen what Frostbite 2.0 is capable of, lets wait and see what kind of magic Danger Close can work up.

Well, Singleplayer story wise, I think the cod team has this on lock, though the following definitely applies to other aspects of SP but MP is and should be the focus.

Strictly from a gamers' perspective, I really dont mind a cod replacement that features maps of similar scale but...

1) NOT grenade tumbling sounds and weapon firing sounds that are EXACTLY the same in MW3 as they were in cod1

2) NOT graphics and textures that look almost the same as they did since COD2, nearly EIGHT years ago.

3) NOT have an environment where rockets, grenades and c4 leave EVERYTHING perfectly in tact.

4) NOT overdo gimmicks like killstreak that just BEG people to camp to rack up points and kills.

5) NOT have a game that comes out that makes me feel like im back in 2008 playing MW1, the last worthwhile cod ever made.

...and this is just off the top of my head.

I'm not even going to pretend to know the first thing about building a game but you dont have to be a game designer to recognise and appreciate quality. This is how I can tell you, having played cod profusely since the beginning that last three games in the series are anything but quality. This series is now riding on brand name alone. Eventually, people are going to realise that there are better alternatives out there.

Dont get me wrong, I have absolutely nothing personal against you, in fact, I am happy we are in contact with someone with the power to change things, which is why I have been so hard on you to wake up and realise that this formula that the series is stuck on is DEAD and needs to change. I really hope that one day I can pick up a cod series and have some fun again but with another in the series set to drop later this year (AGAIN!!!), clearly, lessons have not been learnt.

Until such a day comes, my money will go to more worthwhile titlesl

Dont have the power yet

...but hopefully I can get there. Swimming with sharks not easy dread. Its very very important I dont let my eyes "glaze over" from external pressure. I read these forums, you guys dont have a damn clue what's going on behind the curtain do you? Well some do...because I tell you

As much as I love MW3 as my go to shoot em up game, the formula needs to be revamped. If the MOH team can give us something fresh I'd buy it.

I know some might not like it, but Id think a full co op campaign could really flesh out a new ip (aside of the multi) not missions based aside modes, but a full campaign you could run through gears of war 3 style. (Co op built from the ground up)

Gears 3 is the BEST in this regard. bar none. even borderlands not close. I know its a hell of a tall order, but I'm seeing an appreciation of Co operative play growing in new games, and its something I personally would love to see.
