Dolby Digital is coming post launch. This was a SW scheduling issue pure and simple, and I know people are disappointed, but we will have it. Anyone with an HDMI receiver should be fine, as we pass the uncompressed 5.1 and 7.1 through HDMI as well as DTS. Even if you have a Dolby only HDMI receiver (which I'm not sure exists), you will still get 5.1 or 7.1 sound since those receivers should accept uncompressed surround.
Xbox One teardown reveals replaceable hard drive, off-the-shelf partshttp://www.engadget.com/2013/11/21/xbox-one-teardown/Ah yes.
I'm picturing some poor schmuck at Microsoft accounts getting a bill for the Xbox One's launch event in NYC tonight in a few months' time, looking at it, then jumping straight out a window. The company is going to ridiculous lengths tonight, not only taking over Times Square but doing stuff like having zombies shamble all over the Brooklyn Bridge, fancy sports cars racing through Manhattan and giving out green beanies. Some of team Kotaku will be heading down to check it out; expect more coverage from them through the night.
Edit: That last bit was a joke, just in case anyone takes it the wrong way. I love the xbox one (the working one I'm currently playing on, the broken one not so much) and won't be sulking off to the PS4 because of a launch day dud. Knowing my luck I'd get a dead PS4 too. Currently playing Battlefield 4 and it is beautiful. So far there have been about 3 reports of this failure so there is no need to blow this out of proportion yet. Happy gaming and I hope none of you have this issue.

I am very very interested in the performance of that game on next gen hardware. To be fair, I just checked and can't find any overwhelming number of incidents with these grinding optical drives. (something that happens on PCs as well....but not particularly common on this platform either)Will continue to monitor.
