WHAT THE F@#K!!?

http://kotaku.com/microsoft-is-removing-xbox-one-drm-514390310

I keep saying it...NEVER dismiss the power of the 'vocal minority'...although...it may have been 'majority' in this case.  :laughing7:
To simply label the people complaining as 'not with the times' or 'haters' is a bad strategy.  I will continue to adopt this view.

THIS...is how you turn customers, into FANS.

GG MICROSOFT!!!  (for ONCE   )

Arc, is like i said with Windows 8, MS is not stupid, if they see it becoming a problem, they will respond.
And they change on Windows 8 combined with this complete turnaround with the Xbox One, shows that MS is listening to the consumer, and again, they are not stupid. Like me and wintry say, is uncle bill we talking bout.
He not just going to hand over customers to sony without ah fight.

The vocals usually get what they want, but im afraid in this case, it has harmed the progression of the console industry:

"These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray."

So that sexy family room feature, where 10 ppl in your "family group" can play any game any member purchase, is GONE! So to is the ability to share/sell your digital game in any form. Personally i prefer it how it was, all i wanted removed was region lock, so i can be confident my Killer Instincts will work.

So i am happy for the change to secure Killer, but i am unhappy with lossing the additional features an all digital platform would have brought. And since i hate discs, ill be buying all my games digital anyway, so apart from removal of region lock, this change aint benefiting me atal.

I guess the world was not ready for the future, MS go spoon feed consumers and gradually get them there i guess.

Xbox One Pre-Ordered!

Edit:

O and the being online every 24hrs i didnt want either, would have been fine with once a week.

They finally come to their senses. Better late than never I guess but for many, the trust is now gone. Who's to say they wouldn't try to pull something like this in the future?

Nah not serious, i glad, i can buy ah xbox at ease now. But i was really liking that family feature boy.

I was just picturing it, wyatt buy bout 5 game, and i here getting all for free :)
Ah well. And i know MS not implementing that without enforcing the 24hr check-in.

Ah well, alls well that ends well, everybody happy now.

@ Capt.

I fully expect they would try to pull something like this again in the future, but i highly doubt it will happen in the lifecycle of the Xbox One.

They will try again with the Xbox Two, and if the outcry at that time is the same as now, i fully expect them to back track again.

I dont think MS should loose anybody "trust" over this, becuase is not like men spend money on something they didnt want, and they fix it in such a short time too. If anything u should trust them more. Trust them to listen to cuss when they hear it lolol.

This is great news, the voice of the consumer has prevailed. I find this quite funny seeing as a couple days ago we got this
http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2013/06/16/microsoft-wont-change-anything-about-the-xbox-one-in-reaction-to-ps4/

Can you say xbox 180? They were probably sh*tting bricks when they saw the preorder numbers vs ps4 hahaha.

Ryse: Son Of Rome
Forza Motorsport 5
Halo 5
Crimson Dragon
Dead Rising 3

Yep...I'll be buying those bitches. :happy0203:

"The neat-sounding "family share" plan, which would let you license up to 10 Xbox Ones to play your games, iTunes-style, is also no more. You also won't be able to have your full game library travel with you."

Rasta, we loss d game library roaming too boy, big wet watery steups.

Hadda wait another 7 years to hopefully see these things boy, wayyee. Anyways, PC have dat long time.

The main thing people were upset about was the asinine the 24 hour check in and not being able to play any game, single or multiplayer without being connected to the internet. Microsoft took the passive aggressive route with this latest decision. They could have just removed these issues whilst maintaining a way to keep digitally sharing/reselling games as a feature but no, they chose to take their ball and go home...an equally stupid decision.

I absolutely hate physical media. It is pointless and very outdated, not to mention the fact that it is also quite fragile. As a PC gamer and avid user of steam/origin, I am thrilled to not have to deal with these wretched things called DVD's. It sucks that console noobs still have to put up with it. The ability to resell a digital copy of a game and "lend" a license to a friend for a set period of time are two things that I wish was available on Steam. If they find a way to do this regardless of platform, it would be a very good time for gamers everywhere.

Thing is, if MS removes the online check, the Xbox one will be open to rampant piracy if they kept all d other epic features intact. Piracy that exists on the pc today, men does rip whole steam games cracked and playable in full offline.

Piracy on PC is alto less than it used to be, but its still a big issue, online drm is d only way to stop it.

I cant really think of a middle ground whiles ensuring the Xbox one remains a solid eco system.

I open to suggestions.

Hmmm I hear you @ the possible piracy due to removal of online check. I mean, piracy is something you really can't kill any more than you can kill every single virus in the world. Sure, a pirate free world is ideal but lets face it...life is not ideal.

We all know piracy exists with the xbox in its present state but they've managed to keep it manageable by all accounts. I am CERTAIN there is a way to keep it in check with digital media without having this "phone home" thing every day.

In my eyes they gave up way too quickly. I mean the E3 announcement and subsequent backlash was one week ago? Within that time, how long and hard could they have thought about a better solution to the problem they facing. This was purely a panicked move, a company desperately trying to cling to its customers (and the wads of cash of course) by making hasty and unmeasured decisions. Surely, this isnt the mark of a mature organization.

Yet still as a result preorders rise in droves.

At d end of d day is about making money, and I'm sure they recognize that the gaming audience wasn't ready for d future they try to bring. If man happy with old thing yuh blame them for not trying harder?

PlayStation eh doing jack and watch at d positive reaction, why should MS spend more time and money putting an even more elaborate and advanced system in place to get a middle ground when customers flocking to Sony for doing nothing?

At the end of d day, I'm personally disappointed cause I want the features, but I understand and appreciate what MS had to do. I just hope that within the console life cycle they find a way to slowly reintroduce these epic features whiles finding a way to deal with piracy. Get d sales first then add features later.

I doubt they just trash they ideas, I think they put it on hold for a while. And I think for a mature company, that's d best business decision they could have made.

At least we still have all games available digital at launch. I sure as hell not buying no physical media.
