Check out this staggering fact:

COD BlackOPs 2 sales figures

The Xbox 360 version was the top selling version with sales of 6.21 million units. This is a 55 percent market share of the total sales. The PlayStation 3 version sold 4.61 million units, or 41 percent of the total sales. The PC version sold 400,859 units in its opening week.

Lets put those numbers into perspective.

55% xbox
41% PS3
4% PC

The consoles sold 26 times more copies of the game than the PC platform did.

That is STAGGERING.

So in reality, as long as the consoles continue to do so well....the PC platform will become more and more irrelevant to developers.

Expect more sloppy ports, if any at all.

Actually Wyatt that's not the case and I agree with Awesome.
Sales figures for pc games doesn't include steam. Because steam does not release their sales figures.

Having said that we know steam accounts for a vast number of the sales on PC.
If PC wasn't doing good, developers wouldn't bother going through the effort of Releasing the games on PC.
Name some triple A cross platform titles that not available on PC?

Apart from combat games I don't think you'll find many at all that isn't available.
PC is doing just fine. I've bought more pc games in the last few years than in my entire life. I'm sure that holds true for most of the PC gamers here.

Also most of the game demos at E3 are shown off on PC.

Tell me what sloppy ports u referring too anyways, apart from the crysis fiasco....and even so, d PC version is better.
And PC still leading the charge in it's strongest genre, RTS.
SC2, WOW, Dota, League, C&C, Company of heroes, etc.
If PCs die, so do they, and that eh happening.

So given d lack of d real sales numbers, and the boost in available crossplatform games on the PC, and the increase in E-sport activity, i think PC is just fine, best its been in years.

And the fact that ps4 IS a pc now, it even easier for developers to make games for all 3, and the PC versions would look even better than it already does because of the shared architecture with both flagship consoles.

Activision Blizzard announced yesterday that they sold more than 3.5 million copies of Diablo 3 in the first 24 hours of release. Shattering the PC sales record. In the first week they claim to have sold 6.3 million copies.

Diablo 3 is the latest release in the Diablo franchise and a game that many people have been waiting 12 years to get their hands on. Diablo II sold 4 million copies in the year after it was released.

I don't give you wrong. The PC is a superior and epic platform but at sometime we have to start smelling the coffee and brace for the future. lol

Oh and if you think COD doing so well on steam....here are real statistics for you to chew on.

Those numbers are tepid. 20,000 current players? weak.

Bested by Borderlands 2 and totally wtfpwned by team fortress and dota.

Even if we are generous and give steam a million copies in sales....it still doesn't put a dent in the 10 million plus copies sold and properly accounted for by the consoles.

What is interesting in what Wyatt pointed out is that DOTA2 is the #1 played game on steam.. but its... FREE... not helping the $$$ games for the PC. Either way I am waiting to see titles and price before I make my decision, but its likely i'll own a Xbox one eventually.
I have a gaming PC sitting home playing DOTA2 by my brother (cause I don't use it) and whilst I own almost as many PC titles as I do Xbox 360 titles (thanks to Steam sales) I have played no more than 60% of the games I own and beat less than 10%...
Sadly i've been pwnt by the consoles because of its ease of use, ability to carry wherever I need (yes I own a carrying case for my xbox, it's quite neat and NO I ain't toting my HAF 932 ANYWHERE THAT ISH IS HEAVY) and largely because of the amount of friends I have on XBL.
I have been trying to get into the DOTA sweat and whilst its fun and I can play it on my work laptop (only real reason I can play it) the learning curve is daunting, the gamers are even more hostile than on XBL (imagine that) and I can barely get ANYONE (GATT INCLUDED) to sweat with a n00b like me. Its' just REALLY not helping.
Now that is one example i'll give you that, but considering my laptop can't really play other titles (and dota2 at LOW settings) means i'm not gonna be gaming much on the PC though I will continue to buy titles when steam has sales in the HOPE i get to play it one day and i'm certain I am not alone in what I have stated here.

Funny enough I made the comment with Sony losing money all over (save maybe the playstation... NOW) that it'd be funny it MS bought them out... adding to the mix Nintendo... maybe MS should just buy them both. This convo actually started because of that LAME video sony posted showing blurs of a black blob and close ups of what I guess is the PS4... which coincidentally specification whise is more or less the same as a XBox one... both APUs made by AMD, both have 8GB ram, both are black boxes and being x86 can't be TOO far off each other... but like I said it was just funny.

Sadly I am looking for a Xbox tracker that shows how many ppl playing online but I can't. If anyone has such links do post, I can say COD BL2 prolly maintains over 150k users by itself, Halo 4 around 50K and that's all I play and they actually show stats in game. What i'd be interested in seeing is total XBL players online and the distribution of games. PC has the behemoths like WOW and LOL which i'd like to see a total tally of ALL ONLINE PC gamers and ALL online console gamers to really see what the market looks like, instead of us throwing idle banter at each other.

MS cannot buy Sony. Sony too big. Nintendo on the other hand is doable. But Nintendo and Sony being both Japanese companies, I faster see Sony getting the deal than MS. But is uncle bill we talking bout, cant put nothing past him.
And wintry I also didn't get all d jabs that was thrown at MS event. I find it was good. D hardware good, d software tech better, and they offer more for the living room for d same price. Sony just have the exclusives. Which is also important.

If you joined us for the Xbox One reveal yesterday, you'll probably know that amidst all the excitement, we learned that a single Xbox Live Gold membership will cover both the 360 and the next-gen console. Good stuff -- no extra expenditure, subscription sign-ups or other irritations. But, it gets even better, as a couple of Microsoft bigwigs told Polygon that Live memberships can also used by multiple profiles. That means several accounts can be created on one console, for discrete friends lists, personal Home screens and the like, but they'll all be able to feed off the same subscription. We're not sure how this'll work exactly, but it already sounds better than the Gamertag-specific membership model on the 360, which is responsible for far too many amazing kill stats being lost to the dreaded "Guest" account.
