Hey you, kinect user playing dance central. Yes YOu. You look like a downs syndrome monkey trying to perform the heimlich maneuver on himself. Do yourself a favour and put...it DOWNNNN.

Also, one does not simply slap a screen on a controller and pass it off as a gaming console. You are unnecessarily raising the cost of entry for the system. If people want a handheld gaming device, THEY WILL BUY ONE!!

Why use a confail in the first place??? Open a console and you'll find that they are all PC components.

Add one midrange video card to your pc and get ready to experience gaming for the first time!!!

Put these nonsense confails to the only use they are good for....as a distraction to keep the wife and kids out of your hair and off your damn PC!!!

or as a doorstop or paperweight...

wow @ all that angst for the kinect in the comments.

not sure what's all the raging about. Kinect is much loved in my household.

hard lol @ awesome's console diss.

As far as distracting the wife and kids goes, an ipad 2 is far more effective.

*Looks at awesome... shakes head and walks away*

I don't see the need for a controller with a HD touchscreen, that is all.

Haha i feel so. Anyway, this is a thread for discussion about technology incorporated in next gen consoles, try to stay on topic guys. The last thing i want is for this thread to degenerate into the ever so childish "mine is better than yours" argument.

Report: Next Xbox Codenamed 'Durango'

Quote
The next-generation Xbox may be codenamed "Durango."

Crytek senior technical designer Sean Tracy wrote the following message on Twitter: "Enjoying the Durango developers summit in London. So far, great swag and interesting talks." Tracy deleted the tweet soon after it went live.

Keep in mind that Durango likely wouldn't be the final name of the project, similar to the Wii U's Project Cafe codename.

Previously, the successor to the Xbox 360 has been largely referred to as Xbox 720, though that codename has never officially been sanctioned by Microsoft. Rumors last year also suggested that the system was codenamed "Loop."

For now, Microsoft hasn't made any announcements about its next console, and all codenames are only a rumor.

Source: Eurogamer

Sounds kinda silly, shoulda just stuck with xbox 720

I'm hard pressed to say that, even with the new consoles on the rise, after avidly playing PC for the last 3 years, it's hard to return to the controller. I do however hope, that if its ONE thing that MS does about the the new xbox and the modifications to xbox live for the console, that the friends list exceeds 100 -__-

Report (rumour): Next Xbox To Have No Disc Drive
Quote
The next Xbox won't contain a physical disc drive, according to a new report.

A source close to British trade magazine MCV claims that Microsoft revealed this information under what it described as "the strictest NDA" they have ever encountered.

While the console will not contain a disc drive, according to the source, the report suggests it will contain "some sort of interchangeable solid-state card storage, although it is not known whether this will be proprietary or a more standard format such as SD."

MCV is also claiming that a 2013 release window for the hardware has been confirmed.

A move to digital-only distribution would be extremely unconventional for Microsoft; if there is any truth to this report, it would be a major blow for traditional retail. Microsoft has yet to officially deny the story.

In response to the report, Microsoft has said, "We are always thinking about what is next for our platform and how to continue to defy the lifecycle convention. Beyond that we do not comment on rumors or speculation."

What do you think about the latest murmuring about Microsoft's next console?

I figure they will offer two version

they already played with the 4gb version of the xbox 360

prices have dropped, so by 2013 I am sure they could include a roomier HD and skip the optical drive on one of the SKUs

Allowing it to hit a pricepoint that the competitors will find tough to match if they only have options with optical drives.

http://www.polygon.com/2013/4/26/4268782/next-xbox-drm-achievements-live

Quote
Sources tell Polygon that the next Xbox will indeed have some form of an always-on requirement. That will be both to support the suite of non-gaming entertainment applications that will be launched alongside the console, like streaming video services, but also as a possible anti-piracy tool. Currently, the console will support digital rights management and anti-piracy checks using an internet connection. Under Microsoft's current guidelines, which may still be changed, the decision of whether a game will require an internet connection to work and if that is a one-time authentication or a constant connection, will be left up to individual publishers.

THE NEXT XBOX WILL ALLOW PUBLISHERS TO DECIDE IF THEIR GAMES SHOULD REQUIRE AN INTERNET CONNECTION TO BE PLAYED.

The fact that offline gameplay, always online and one-time checks are supported, means that in the future, publishers will have much greater control over copyright protection for their games.

Take that in allyuh pipe and smoke it.

Tell dem nah 'Orthy'  :laughing7:

I dont even get why they are doing this. I thought that they pretty much had piracy under control with the consoles as opposed to the PC which is why less emphasis is placed on the PC..

Just another reason to love the PC as a gaming platform.

LOL

That is hilarious but I'm not sweating it.

Always Online games are the ultimate answer to piracy.

Expect that trend to continue far into the future as the world is only going to become more connected.

For every two failed implementations you can find a hundred that worked.

Steam itself is the absolute success story for online drm.

Consoles will inevitably embrace that model.

I look forward to it because if steam is any indicator, it will mean a heavy drop in pricing for games as well. The shift to online and digital distribution has many pros, not just cons.
