New trailer beeches. They have every detail from the anime/manga down. Even to the way he runs.

Not just action. I made out LEVEL pieces of the anime in there:

Sanosuke with/without the Zamba sword
Saito getting set in the Getatsu stance
Henry Takada, Aoshi's former boss, after he pulls out the gattling gun

I hope they didn't do like M. Night Sh!t-malan did with Avatar and cram a whole junk of the story into just under 2 hours and if this is rated anything less than R, ah blankin it.... STRAIGHT.

Well the Problem with airbender was that they crammed ALL of the seasons in one 1.5hr movie. Im guessing or more like hoping that this is well written and edited so everything feels well connected. And with all that stuff in it it better not be less than 2 hrs else something is wrong.

It will never feel well connected within 2 hours or less. The Kenshin Himura story is soooo long and well thought out. From the dead beginning were he wondered into Kamiya Kaoru all the way to battling Shishio Makoto - well lets just say, that's one hell of a ride and many a Saturday morning well invested.

Let's wait and see how this matches up.

So far we haven't seen anything to indicate that Shishio is in this. They introduce him at the end and set up a sequel. Only way I see this working.

Point taken....I ended up reminiscing about my Saturday morning...these days I beg the cable channels to show something good.

I think this movie may end where Henry Takada, Aoshi's former boss whips out the GATTling gun and sprays everyone.

I don't think there's ANY anime/manga/gaming fan who doesn't want to see this.
The producers have some epic shoes to fill with this movie. Who knows...maybe it's the 1st part of a trilogy.

I wonder if the swordplay will get as ridiculous as Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon?

If they film him falling face 1st towards earth and flash a torch light in the camera while pelting up some japanese symbols, I'll call it the nine headed dragon attack.
It may just be more fast paced. eg - from the trailer where Kenshin was running side ways on the grass cutting men like gyro meat.

Leave Crouching Tiger out of this. It was SUPPOSED to be that type of film i.e. A classic Wu Xia film. Crouching Tiger always gets an unnecessarily bad wrap.

Agree with Q on crouching tiger. I actually liked those kind of films and appreciated them for what they were.

Funny how some people will watch fantasy and sci fi with no problem at all but have a cow when the asians go a little over the top with their motion pictures. lol

As epic as this movie maybe, I honestly felt no void left by the anime and ova. They did such a fantastic job and etched memories in my mind that will last a lifetime.

Nothing short of perfection will do them justice. As mentioned in this thread already, they have HUGE shoes to fill with this. HUGE.

Perhaps my use of the word 'ridiculous' was a bit misleading, because CTHD is actually one of my all-time favorite 'kick-up'. Maybe what I should have said there is 'over the top'.

...and this movie being based on an anime series after all, I expect the 'over-the-topness' to be a FEATURE... lol.

I was wondering (aloud?) how far the filmmakers taking it.
