I remember when the movie 300 came out and up the ante on epic action.....all action movies from then on were like lame compared to 300....Video Games are like that......With engaging worlds like Skyrim (which I'm totally biased to) newer games have to have that awesome factor to keep me interested.
Innovation: in gaming as well is the cure for this Jaded Gamer. Though Games Like SWTOR are excellent... I'm over WOW-like MMOrpg's. Too much mundane time wasting to keep me playing.... I'd rather watch others play. Hopefully Guildwars 2 (again i'll be biased) should shake the foundations of what to expect an MMO could be.
Gameplay: Some games are so classic they will never get old....aka Street fighter 2... I will always pick it up because it's in my DNA to "Throw Water"......the controls are tight and hits register.....that feeling of control is priceless and keeps me playing.
Graphics: I'm an Old school Gamer from the 80's. Arcade, Atari, NES, SNES etc. Allyuh remember PITFighter in the Arcade? I was Blown away that live action sprites were used...Mortal Kombat1 came after wards....I will always be wowed by graphics....But it is not always necessary to make a fun game....Terraria is an example.......it's old school looking in nature but i can spend a whole day...farming and exploring and have fun by myself because it captures the Me against the world factor so well.
Multiplayer....While I love the ability to run Singleplayer (majority of my Gaming) things like LAN parties, Online link up on STEAM is the prefered experience.. This is why Diablo 3 will not be played (probably) because I want to run it with friends ( Locally like D2). So Games like Torchlight 2 may become chosen instead. The ability to play with Friends & Trinis at home /online is very BOSS!!
I've decided to uninstall a few games that are cobwebbing my Hard drive. WOW was the biggest....And LOTRO, D&D online...Age of Conan ....The Witcher 2 may never get played properly.....(very hard to switch from a Skyrim game)
