Christmas Wishlist 2011

As is the annual tradition around the month end of November....we take our pens to papers (or fingers to keyboard) to scribe that wish list of items for Santa to deliver on December 25th 2011

Reply with your hearts desire.

Here is my wish list thus far:

#1) Sharkoon X-Tatic True 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound Gaming Headset x2
(Left over from 2010 wishlist, to game / watch movies with the misses at night without waking up the house)


#2) Updated Graphics Card
Either the Nvidia GTX 570 or ATI 6970







#3) Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
(will probably sneak this one in as a gift to my son)


#4) A local Perler Bead Art piece



#5) Hands Free Kit for the BlackBerry


#6) Deus Ex: Human Revolution
(Rumour has it, you get this game as a Steam download with the Radeon 6970, might get lucky)



#7) TED 5000 G Energy Monitor
(Pushing my luck here but want this to get a better hold of our T&Tec bill which has skyrocketed!)

@ arc, what wrong with the 6970?

If I get the DeusEx in the box to redeem on steam, it will be the same price as a 6950 (saving about US$49.95 by getting the game free)

and yeah, the list long. Expecting to realistically get two or three from that. Unless Santa Claus has a secret stash of money that I didn't know about. lol

Overclocking and Unlocking any computer part is taboo in Wyatt's eyes.

Virtue is exactly right @ overclocking. Taboo. I'll leave that to the younger GATT members who have more flare for adventure.

My list relatively simple:


1.  Nokia E5 - yes it is an old phone and it have ENDLESS alternatives, but I on the cheap and practical



2. Crucial M4 256GB SSD - To bump up my Desktop's performance, the same way I did my laptop with a 128GB



3. WD Caviar Black 1TB -  to supplement #2, and replace the surely dying 1.5TB drive I have


4. 3TB hard Drive  with a USB 3.0 Enclosure - for external backup purposes. But the PRICES for the drives!

5. $5000 cash - to pay for exams by end of January 2012

TW, unlocking the 6950 is 'harmless' and is actually sanctioned by AMD,
hence the inclusion of a separate un-flashable BIOS you can switch to if you get problems.

If you can install Windows and games, you can unlock a 6950.

@ arc: I've said it a bazillion times, my swashbuckling (overclockin') days are behind me. Used to OC before some of the members on here could spell the word. Not any more.

Not touching the core speed nor the mem speed, nor hackin the bios, nada. Stock immc!

...but TW, back in them days you could actually wreck something.  Not today.  Too many fail safes built in.

You really gonna have Santa spend an extra hundred US when its not necessary?  You must really not like Santa. 

What else do I have to do to convince you that buying that 6970 is not an efficient use of Santa's resources?
