have it about 3 months now.

selling because I plan to go Nvidia.

Actually looking at the physx rendering for Batman Arkham City, easily my most anticipated game for 2011.

also has me interested in the 3D options.

but that 580 is monstrous in performance. and price....

Always wanted to make the jump to nvidia, but price was a scene. still trying to work out if it worth it, and then there is the "Kepler"

Now having second thoughts, after looking at benchies, (another 6950 is cheaper and would blow away the 580 but I just hate crossfire), and the option to use physx with a small nvidia card installed alongside.

Decisions decisions.

You are better off just getting another 6950.

It will be cheaper, and as you rightfully pointed out, overall graphics performance will be
head and shoulders above the GTX 580 (which is still to expensive for a single card, in my opinion).

What is it about CrossfireX that you 'hate' so much?

I've been using it for years, and while I may have had issues in the past, things have improved greatly
on the driver front. Since I've started using the 6870s I have not had any driver issues whatsoever.
CrossfireX is almost plug and play now. The only downside I can see is the power-draw.

like getting a 9800 GTX or a 460 for the physx ?

Nah man, temps are not a problem, once you go into the driver settings and set your fan speeds to about 60-65%.

Of course, it goes without saying that your case's airflow should be a bit better than average if you decide to deploy CrossfireX. I have ZERO issues in that department.

I came into this tread 100% sure that this was your reason for sale.

I don't blame you, i really can't imagine playing Mafia 2 or even Metro 2033 without it and this Arkham City looks especially good with it.
I don't think it's worth it to change brand just because of PhysX, but if you were planning to upgrade then why not.

i could back arcman up they... i've used crossfire in my two previous rigs, if you have a 6950 already and you looking for a boost, adding another 6950 is the way to go

cooling is not a problem unless your board is horribly designed and there is absolutely no space between the two cards, other than that as arcman say good airflow and you will see normal temps...

right now i have my hd 5850 with a 9800GT for physx and it wukkin nice.
