Just finished watching this.

As an action movie... BRILLIANT.  There's just so much 'SEAL' that an actor can portray.
Using actual on-duty SEALs really nailed it, but as characters... don't look for any exposition there, because there is none.

...and that's kinda the point.  This movie comes off as a big-budget, motion picture recruitment poster for the US Navy,
which is what I expected, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Oh, and you'll want to turn the home-theatre system up to ELEVEN to watch this one.

I'm reading some reviews this morning, and wow, talk about hate from so-called 'critics'. 
I think they all (deliberately?) missed the point.  Par for the course, really.

It's easy to be a liberal, metro-sexual, square-rimmed glasses wearing, slack-jawed f@#$0t (Predator reference ) whose 'job' is to sit around all day watching movies to 'review'

The US Navy never apologised, or made excuses (as far as I can tell) for what this movie was intended to serve as,
or who its target audience was.

I hold no brief for America (or their foreign policy for that matter), but I totally get where the film-makers went with this.
I personally think this is a lot better than the overpaid-actor crap that's been Hollywood's staple for years.

So what if it's aimed at the Call Of Duty/action junkie/combat veteran set?  Must every movie be of the 'nuanced', expertly acted (according to the 'critics'), Oscar worthy (read: overpaid-actor crap) variety?


I'd watch this movie a THOUSAND times before watching 'Hunger Games', or some other 'nuanced' bull$#!t.

I totally agree....unfortunately, we are a minority in this world....which is why those testosterone laced action films always get panned by the critics.

The real crying shame is that our demographic is also the one least likely to go pay $45 to see these movies on the big screen (where those directors make their money)

So while Hunger Gamers rips up at the reviews and rakes in all the dough, challenging box office records...the man-show that is Act of Valor will do just modestly.

God bless the good souls who keep making them anyway!

Arc pretty much nailed it already in his synopsis. Don't come for the acting....there is none.

not Avengers level special effects either.

That said, there is still enough of the good stuff to make it worth your while, if you're an action / war movie fan that is.
