I can't believe this didn't already have it's own thread.
Finally,
a proper review of the H100 from Guru3D.
It seems like it cools better than most of the best air coolers, although it's uncanny
that Guru3D have tested every other Thermalright cooler except the Silver Arrow.
I wish someone would do a direct comparison of the two.
The only issue I have with this review, is that it wasn't tested with a case, to show
if there are any issues with mounting the rad, and also to explain the implications
of mounting the fans as intake, or exhaust.
Now that I've given it some serious thought, I'm wondering how best to mount this
in my particular case. Conventional wisdom says that it should be mounted on the
'ceiling', but as intake, or exhaust? I already have 2 x 200mm fans there as exhaust,
so mounting it as intake would be counter-productive. However, mounting it as exhaust
means that the rad would be using hot air from inside the case pulled into it by the fans.
Not a very efficient implementation of the rad.
In hindsight, it seems that the Antec 1200 might have been the better case for this particular
kit, as that one had 2 x 120mm fans at the rear...perfect for mounting that rad.
Fellow enthusiasts, help me brainstorm this one. I really want that H100, so I can get
rid of that big-ass hunk o metal on my CPU. It cools like no other, but good god, it makes
working inside the case a real chore.
