I used to say the same (of tablets in general) but since my wife got an Ipad 2, I've changed my tune.

The device is slick. It's our new go to computer for the living room and bedroom. She loves it...so as an added bonus, she spends less time on my gaming PC! lol. The perfect distraction to keep 'em out of your hair when sweatin with the fellas.

Trust me, if you get one of these for your wife/gf/significant other...they will be eternally grateful and won't even suspect a thing.

I know what you mean, it would definitely have been a good buy if i didn't already have a second desktop and two laptops in the house. lol!

I've got three desktops and three laptops in the house and she still uses the ipad 9 times out of 10 over the other six machines. lol

and for the older GATTers, its a huge hit with the little ones as well. The touch screen and some free children's games from the apple store is a toddlers dream come true.
