Limited State of Emergency declared in TT

I just been told we are in a limited state of emergency in certain areas of TT from midnight tonight.


Anyone have further details?

Here are the areas affected by the limited state of emergency:
 
Arima, Arouca, Beetham, Caranage, Cunupia, Diego Martin, Enterprise, Felicity, Gasparillo, Grand Couva, Hermitage, Icacos, Laventille, Maloney, Morvant, Sea Lots, Trincity, Pigeon Point and Crown Point!!!!
 
As of tomorrow joint patrol by police, sautt and army would take effect. They have been authorized to use "EXCESSIVE FORCE", if necessary! You can also be held "INDEFINITELY" if caught outside!!!! The ministry of transport would be issuing special permits for essential services staff who live in these areas!!

1-PM cannot declare SOE, this has to come from the President, he has to sign off on it, before you announce it, so all this is STILL intent, and not yet LEGALLY binding, one
2- a state of emergency and a curfew are independent of each other, . all that has been stated so far is a SOE REQUEST/PROPOSAL.there has been no mention of a curfew.that being said, if you are outside at ANY time you can be searched without a warrant.that's what the SOE allows

I doh really care bout the lil inconvenience this SOE is gonna cause, I can bear with it, I'm just hoping that some positives come out of this event.
I guess a part of me is just glad that an effort is being made to try and curb the crime situation.

Is it that there will be a curfew in place in these areas? No one allowed on the streets after 8PM or something?

Real talk:  unless police start 'profiling' people who don't look like me,
the guns and drugs will keep coming, and the crime won't stop.
We don't have arms factories here.  Where the guns coming from?  Who bringing em?

How convenient the locations of the majority of them hotspots eh.
They find real plenty guns/drugs in a house in Valsayn, but I notice them
not on this so-called 'list of hotspots'.

Well lets see what/if anything comes of this exercise...if they "know" the big boys as you say, then this is the time to get them, unless they not in the country and they out playing golf somewhere... :S
