i wont be surprised if they hold some smaller ones just to say they do something... they aint go touch the big ones... as seismie say... to well connected.. and plenty money done pass

Watch how many people gonna get pinched for petty possession charges.
HALLELUJAH PP for saving us from non-violent offenders posing a danger to no one!

Apparently they just woke up Sunday and thought this was a good idea. You supposed to have it declared and then 2 minutes later police in men tail. Instead they seem to take they sweet time. Anybody who had anything of real worth done bury it in dey neighbour yard.
And no "Mr. Big" ever keeps stuff on him, you don't catch those guys with raids, you catch them by conducting in depth targeted operations.

I'm not sure if its the 'Mr Bigs' of Trinidad that are calling the shots to have all these people killed. (was it 11 over the weekend?) Maybe I am wrong but I have a feeling its those same small time offenders who maybe toting a gun, have a very short fuse and look for any excuse to off a man.

Im absolutely no fan of the PP government nor a lot of the decisions they've made since their installment however, we must understand that Kamla's hands are tied. They have foreign expertise in the police service and crime continues unabated. This lockdown, and perhaps one of a wider, more strict scope could very well be what is needed to 'clean up' the hotheads. Of course, the Mr Bigs wont be caught by any curfew but a good mix of hooves on the ground and those targeted investigations could very well be the thing that this country needs.

You make an intriguing point there, QuickDraw.

What does become of all  the trade union business that was brewing up to last week?
God is dead.

Quickdraw is correct!

While the SoE is in effect, public meetigs / protests are not allowed. The unions cannot put their big toe on the street until it's lifted.

Try to keep up.  The trade unions have been all over the news

Try to keep up. if you expressing your views on the timing, what you not doing is talking "strike" "shut down" or "percent". see how every1 get take, even dem?

they know 9 time out of 10 "soe" = "stfu" but they on the back foot and it have nothing they could do about it. once the public forget and people just happy to go back to liming, they going to have to start from scratch.  :yay: they still have to back negotiate for 2009, how long it going to take before they could get to the same place?

just because something easy to see, doh mean you going to see it when it right in front of you. you dealing with pros and they know how to play you.

As I posted on fb, the whole AA cancelling flights and now cnn, this is such fear mongering and keepign stupid ppl in check (for the US that is). As for locally, to believe it has NOTHING to do with the trade unions would be naive and lastly if it does reduce crime all well and good, to me its business as usual tbh.

So do you HONESTLY think the unions are going to let the gov't dictate how and when a strike/shutdown is going to occur because of this SOE?  I think you're giving the gov't too much credit.

I can assure you, this will NOT stop the unions.  The union heads said so themselves.

This is but a temporary setback.

A bigger question is what do yal think about the idea of a shutdown over the 5%? I have my own personal opinions but i'd like to hear what others think, particularly ones who fall under said 5%!
Just as a comment I think the union leaders are all set for life and just riding a wave of discontent by those who genuinely need more than 5%! I've seen ppl in govt positions that get paid for NOTHING a HELL of alot more than I do and I can tell you!
