So i decided to grab a copy of 3D Mark Vantage to benchmark my system before I upgrade for Battlefield 3.

My Specs:
Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.4 GHz
Cooler Master V8 Processor Cooler
Asus P5Q Turbo Mainboard
Patriot Viper DDR2 1066MHz 4GB Ram
EVGA GTX 285 1GB
2x 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM (RAID 0)
Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card
Thermaltake Toughpower 600W PSU

Not bad at old for a 4 year old system. Out of those four years, three running OC @ 3Ghz and it still runs most games and apps without problem.

Your GPU would have made the most difference anyway.
Man, the last time I had a Q6600 seemed like a millenia  ago.

After beating the hell out of my Q6600 for the past 4 1/2 years, i finally decided that it was time for an upgrade.

Here is a my first benchmark using Intel's Turbo feature. Without any tweaking on my part, the board automatically configured itself to run @ 4.6GHz under turbo mode.

Impressive upgrades there Shiv.  The 'B15' has evolved into something with way more, shall we say, 'torque'?

Really liking the look of the Sabretooth board in that case.  I can see you took your time with the cable management.  Everything is nicely tucked away.  Corsair Graphite 600T FTW.

What model of Corsair fans (I'm guessing 200 mm) are those?

Did you mount the H80 fans as intake, or exhaust?


...and I cannot help but be awed at the beastly power of those Sandy Bridge CPUs.   
I could only manage a CPU score of 23K in Vantage.  That 2600K actually closed (and surpassed) the gap I would have had with two DX11 GPUs.
This highlights just how much more CPU-friendly Vantage is, as opposed to 3DMark11.

Great stuff overall.  You are quite ready for Battlefield 3.

What model of Corsair fans (I'm guessing 200 mm) are those?

Couldn't find any model number on the fans. The case came with 2x 200mm fans and 1x 120mm. I currently have the 120mm mounted up top to assist with exhaust.

Did you mount the H80 fans as intake, or exhaust?

I have it mounted in a push pull configuration with intake from inside of the case and exhausting out the back. I tried the the corsair recommended way of taking in cooler air from the outside, it did lower the CPU temps approx. 3C but the ambient temperature in the case went up by at least 7C. Better case exhaust out the top should help if mounting the way corsair recom]mends.
