Tried it out for a bit...

Awesome arcade driving.   It won't win any physics awards, but it's FUN, and that's what matters...but good god almighty is it hard. 

The police will regularly intervene during races.   That, and the fact that other racers will routinely try to run you off the road, and lots of traffic, will see your well fought lead quickly evaporate to dead last in the blink of an eye.  The AI is disgustingly nasty.
In two hours of gameplay, I ain't win a single race.  Not a single one...and I am by no means a driving n00b.

The best qualities of the original Most Wanted, and Underground 2 is what's on offer here.  Gameplay is solid...visuals will make your PC pee itself but prepare your cussword vocabulary, and keep it handy, because you WILL be cussing loudly...and often.

This...is contradictory. 

Anyhow it is kinda challenging, the biggest upset for me is that after you win a race against a blacklisted driver, you have to run them around all over the place and mash up their car, just to officially beat them.

Guess that feature adds more overall gameplay time.

Can't really comment on the online...guess why.

Premise sucks... dumb story
Gameplay sucks.... too arcady
Graphics good but scenery too gritty
AI... waaay to aggressive (should at least be customizable)

On the whole, NFS franchise idea that they have to reinvent the franchise all the time have them making some donkey b**** of games (case in point, nfs the run). If this followed the same premise and gameplay mechanics as the original NFS MW (which was practically underground 2 with cops) to act as sort of a real sequel, then ya, the game would be awesome. They take winning formulae and just throw it out the window trying to be fresh, giving us rubbish handling (and come on man find cars to drive them!!!) and end up with this sorry excuse of a racing game. Back to Driver San Francisco for me.

Who plays racing for a story though?

From what I tested, the handling is solid, and environments pretty immersive. yea the Ai is aggressive, but its supposed to be.

They did say the strength/real meat of this game is the online component. Did you try it online?

Hahaha ... online ... good one.

I do prefer to play games with a storyline and a goal rather than just win x race. I remember playing the underground series and following the character from nobody to wanted across multiple games, and all with an enjoyable race experience and a gameplay dynamic that show growth (find a new garage, buy cars, mod cars NOT find cars ... CAR JACK! I have gta for that).

Anyways this particular entry ain't quite my cup of tea, but if you all like it, more power to ya. I'll wait for shift 3 or something.

Yep.  That review bears out what I said previously about the single-player AI...and you're either going to like the 'challenge' or hate it outright.  There's really no middle ground here folks.

It's like, dare I say it, a 'CoD' - style (mentality) title that you can jump into for a 20-minute joy ride when you feel like it, and then you have your Forza and your Gran Turismo when you need your proper, deep driving fix.
It's sad that I have to use that comparison, but it is what it is.

Like i said, u come for the racing and stay for the online, seems like basic non simulation fun.

It's of burnout pedigree, if you like that you would like this.

Otherwise look elsewhere.
