I want to know who coming out with the tell-all book, because I'm getting the sense that there's more under the surface that's not being told.

There is an article on the interwebs detailing why DoTA should be game of the year.
Touchpoints included the fact that opposed to 'team games' like bf3 or cod.
The outcome of the game is TRULY dependent on team actions and you can clearly see where the game turned in either favor.

2. you can play the same game, with the same lineups 100 times and have 100 equally entertaining and challenging games

I'm sure it's a great game, but the addictive nature of it is disturbing, and also apparently the community is trash.

It is not so much the community as it is human nature.

Dota (and Savage before it) had the uncanny ability to unravel the human soul. To delve deep into the inner core of your being and bring to surface all that may have been suppressed by civil society.

You begin to see the raw true colors of your friends and those colors are often not fit for public consumption. (You should hear Mez when we're losing badly, lol)

As the old saying goes, adversity introduces a man to himself. In Dota, you will really meet your team mates for the first time.

So dota brings out the worse in people, and keeps them addicted to the point they refusing free games, and refuse to even look at any of the many epic titles out there.

.......Interesting........... lol.

Pyrion Flax announcer says 'if you're playing dota with friends say goodbye to them now' LOLOLOL. It truly enrages people when you lose.

But I digress. The thing that makes DOTA2 so special imho.
The laddering system while not perfect. ensures that you are generally placed in a game of people of similar # of games as you (while not a perfect way of ensuring skill level it helps)

They added a tutorial section, a number of community approved guides and you can actually play with a mentor soon.

They are making strides to making the community a more fun/enjoyable place.

I tend to be nicer when i'm playing a hero I really can't play and tell people beforehand sorry about it.

Reporting systems for bad players, commendings for nice/good ones.

It's all adding up to a great game.

Bang for buck, DOTA2 is one of the best games i've played.

I probably spent more on it this past year than on any single purchase game ever.  Buying keys and items for heros is fun and I can afford $10 US a month to make my hero look a lil cooler.

not on any one hero in particular. but new hero items come out each week/month/update and they always have something cool.

Everyone here has spent a worse $60tt than that.

I much rather give it to a game I enjoy playing repeatedly that buy BF3's unending DLC forever. Thanksnothanks sorrynotsorry.

And yes, Mute button is an incredible feature. I've had to have Wyatt remind me of that far too often.

Lol

True story.

It has gotten so bad that if players report you for cyber bullying enough times the game mutes you for 24 hours.

Complete radio silence.

That mute duration can be extended for days if you dont learn to play well with others.

A saving grace. It has begun to impact the community positively.

Hearing less and less from ragers and whiners these days. Lol
