Just how (un)reliable is your gprs from bmobile?
« on: May 18, 2011, 05:34:39 PM »
I was wondering about this for a while. While at home I would say my gprs is pretty reliable, when I go out I would say real hit or miss. For instance I'll be in parts of trincity and have full signal yet I get no gprs data. I was just wondering if others experience similar problems. Even in parts of POS, same issue. It wreaks havok with my msn as I keep getting disconnected. The weird thing is people using bmobile bb service would be getting their data ok and they standing right next to me steups....

Oh I've bitched about this for YEARS, and to compound the issue, it seems like some
phones/OSes have better GPRS connectivity than others.

I would have no end of problems staying connected with the Nokia N900, but not so with
the Nokia E71 I had before that, and the Samsung Galaxy S is a real trooper, but is subject
to the limitations of TSTT's network.

...and why oh why, can't TSTT (up to now) implement a proper 3G service for phones?
They're selling goddamn 3G-capable phones for YEARS now.

But they hot and sweaty to introduce some shitty little '4G' device to charge people a setta
money again.  How about giving your EXISTING customers better service eh?

F@#K!!!

Inside some buildings like the one I work, some areas block the data signal or something. Other places are fine. Once i'm outside though, things are pretty consistent. SLOW but consistent.

If you think tstt gprs is bad, have a look at digicel's. I havent used it myself but I understand its notibly worse and also more expensive.

Digicel real drop the ball here. They were supposed to come and really amp up the market but they did a fat load of nothing. As such, tstt have no competition and can dish out just what the hell they want.

Truly 3rd world mobile internet service.

Serious? I thought Digicel data woulda be better as there aren't as many users on their network. I would say gprs is consistent in certain areas, in other areas it is like playing the lotto.

Well I thought it was just me.

Works splendidly in certain parts of Chaguanas though.

I was actually able to maintain a Skype call to Arizona
via GPRS for about 10 mins.  My aunt was pretty surprised
when I told her I was calling from my phone.

yeah, I'm really surprised that digicel didn't do more to wtfpwn the market in the mobile internet department.

gprs is slow and painful but it has saved me in a pinch many times.

Samsung Galaxy S.

Out of all the phones I've owned, this one seems to handle GPRS the best.
I could never maintain a MSN connection on GPRS on my previous phones.

...or maybe it's an android thing...I dunno.  :)

I know TSTT can do better, but they not getting any serious competition
in this arena, so they don't feel as if they need to improve.
