Hmm interesting tho i'd wager the original planet of the apes and even the remake don't tie into this story AT ALL... that aside couldn't they have just as easily called this:

"Rise of Gorilla Grodd"

Horrible title. Simply "Rise of the Apes" was much cooler.

Planet of the Apes has always been about time travel in one form or another, this one looks like its just using present-day type scenario. The title is important for franchise identification. The original set of movies' continuity was also a bit strange too, and the remake had nothing to do with those at all. I'm glad they're not trying to tie it in.

Maybe it will in some way tho, Earth in the original set was destroyed by nuclear war while the crew was in space. (1960's-1970's for you).

Just saw this movie... doesn't tie into the original but WOW! Amazing movie, great performances and interesting plot. I didn't go into the movies expecting a lot, got more than I bargained for..check it out if u can 9/10.

Nah its a good movie, better than i expected, actually a good story line.

But iam taking in the old one, with mark wahlberg that this is supposed to be like a prequel too and while they tried to make a connection between the two, the stories are too different for that to work.

But this is a good movie.

Lol, I cant tell you where to go watch your movie but I'm sure you will enjoy it wherever u go to see it...its that good (my opinion btw)

Yeah definitely one of the better blockbusters to come out this year.

While it is an origin story I don't think it's meant to be a prequel...but more of a reboot that pays homage to the originals. Modern Battlestar Galactica sort of reboot.

Its a bit of both, a prequel and a reboot. It sets the stage to explain how the earth came to be the planet of the apes in the original movie.

Tell me this, one of my friends mentioned a scene where someone's arms got ripped off, straight out of their sockets. I did not see anything that gruesome. Did I fall asleep and missed it?
