Stupesssss. I really fail to see how that is funny. It wasn't small waves and a little shaking. Just bcuz it seems our country in a "lucky" spot and we've been spared many times ppl automatically feel we are Invincible.

The people that have been making "jokes" about this crisis, I don't think they've been seeing what we've been watching on the news.
I remember watching LIVE right when the tsunami hit and watching people in cars, trucks, homes being washed away and killed right before my eyes.
I fail to see the humor in something so tragic.
Entire families and generations have been wiped out due to this. People crying for their loved ones, can't contact them. Many more missing and unaccounted for.

If this were to happen to you or to people you know, surely you'd have a different view.

Not seeing what we are seeing? I highly doubt that. Its been all over the news and the interweb for the past 5 days. Prolly not shown as much on regular TV but those who have cable/direct tv and internet access would find it hard NOT to see this.

Yea but you know there are people who simply don't follow world news etc. Maybe Mez does, maybe not. It simply was as some said... too soon and insensitive to be making jokes about the tragedy.

QFT.

@Apprentice even if he does not follow it he may have heard about it or at least seen a pic/video somewhere. Besides, since when were natural disasters funny anyway?

We all agree that it was a very dumba$$ statement. Now lets get the thread back on topic lol.

Just as a side note:

The effects of the earthquake/tsunami in Japan are economic as well as humanitarian.

According to an article I read, expect prices of computer parts to start going up soon, if not already: Japan is a major supplier of parts for computer/electronic components.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/mediatechnologyandtelecoms/electronics/8382505/Japan-crisis-pushes-up-computer-chip-prices.html

If you were looking to buy your tech toys anytime in the near future, buy them now.
God is dead.

Why so little looting in Japan? It's not just about honesty.

I'm really not a news person, it always seems that the media is littered with depressing, sensationalized stories that otherwise steal from the actual event and turn it into nothing more than a press push. Even so the images that are shown in the news can really be something else, I saw this clip on youtube of the reactor in Japan and... well watch for yourself....
