How about this for a new PSU?

Woi fellas i am going to upgrade my piece of shixx psu for a new one...been looking around and this Kingwin caught my eye

I read the reviews on it and it is a unanimous decision everyone thinks it is a really good psu but the main thing that got my eye was the share amount of amps this thing clocks out something like 100+ when u add up all 6 rails...what do you all think, or should i go with the mainstream brands like thermaltake and corsair and silverstone?

I have the same model PSU as Hard O/C and you'd better listen to him cause he's used all those brands so he knows what he's talking about.

As he suggested the TX750, there is also the HX750 which is the newer modular version which would also be a great investment for good power.

Any of the brands Hard O/C mentioned there are trusted for techboys like yourself so you can't say we didn't tell ya so and stop looking at those strange brands jeez lol

I know its a strange brand but i say a review of it on Hardocp and they gave it a award and it is 80+ certified ...but i will look at the thermaltakes and i heard only good from the antec's

Thanks for the links fellas, phoenix i was actually looking at that exact psu and honestly i was thinkin about going for a 1000watt + so that down the road i will be good to go with psu atleast i was also looking at the silverstone olympia 1000

I have the hx850 and I am so loving that damn thing. It runs and runs and gives me the confidence that it will stand the test of time.

have had it for abt a year now and am pretty confident it will last me at least another 2 system builds (between 2 and 4 years).

Even the 850 will run a quad slisetup with 4 480's, several hdd's and optical drives, more fans that you can shake a stick at and still beg for more. These units are designed to operate more efficiently under higher loads. You do not need 1000+ with quality units like these.

Arcmanov i like that pic that had me lulzin....and yea i agree with u there, i know the ax850 is a good psu from the hardocp review but, next build i will be going overboard...thinking about dual or tri 590's when it comes out so i really leaning toward a 1kw psu...any suggestions for a solid 1kw psu....but if i not going with a 1kw unit i will be going with the AX850

I myself am currently using this 1kW Cooler Master PSU I got at Circuit Zone.

Not sure if they have it still, but it works like a charm, and it's modular too.
I can guarantee it will handle anything you can throw at it.  Thus far, I've had zero issues.

amd-dude your talking about the ax850 whiles capt has the hx850 so even better performance for you, you really cant go wrong there, you can even save some bucks and get the HX series

but i can attest to corsairs PSU's as i'm running the 1000W (great deal ), and i dont forsee myself needing a new CPU in the next what 6 years?

I dont think i going to buy those psu down here nah they charging too much for it 300 us + for a psu that is 180us ...i have a aunt coming from LA in a few weeks i will let her bring it in for me

The nice thing about buying a PSU locally, is that you can get some sort of warranty with it...six months to one year in most cases.

If you getting 'Auntie' to bring it...MAKE SURE and buy one that has been recommended as
virtually unflappable under load...ESPECIALLY while overclocking.


...but take my stupid advice and bite the bullet lil bit and buy it here.

i cant say that i would recommend buying a PSU locally, as none of my brand name PSU's ever conced out, and even my ye old 430W Tt still kicking in a machine somewhere.

Certain things are not worth the risk and cost of bringing it down. PSU's and Televisions are examples of those things.

Only if im ABSOLUTELY sure of its voracity would I take a chance. If a good PSU brand is available locally and the price is reasonable I would buy it here just for peace of mind through warranty.

TV I am absolutely not going to buy online. I much rather snipe a bess deal down here than go through all that hastle.

that does usually be the problem for me doh, the high end ones does always have a big premium

but that holds through to everything doh, if it have what you want local, at a good price, why not

Right now I just waiting on my PSUs to arrive, should be here by month's end. One for myself and one for one of my friends...if they stick though, would $1300 be a good price for a Corsair 850TX?

I also learn for myself, don't sell yuhself short on PSUs - good PSUs will serve you well for some years. My current PSU is one that Arcman sell one of my friends a couple years back (OCZ 700W)...and I dunno how long he had it for.
