So I still can't fathom the thing about interface speed. My android ui response is INSTANT???

Once my Samsung Focus reach, ill put Android on my HD2 and do ah direct comparison.
But wp7 is not jus speed eh, information layout is better i think.
My MobielShell ahd 3 homescreens and ah picture calling screen. I basicaly used to jus flip between d 1st home nad picture calling, d other 2 screens was jus pickin up space.
Too combersome to be switching between dat on ah regular basis.
WP7 slide up and down, woking rel nice. More Efficient, Get shit done faster.

is not the interface speed alone i was referring to doh.
is the general speed of the device. Launching apps, launching browsers etc.

and post a link with them testing android browser against wp7 browser... cuz the last one i saw windows was winning

and MS closed their system to ensure that they had a solid OS to launch with. With everything controlled by them they were sure to get what they wanted.
Now that's established they will open as they see fit ensuring that it doesn't break the platform, so multi-tasking etc is coming soon.

This LG is ah prototype device, runing on beta WP7 OS.
Will have to look for ah final wp7 vs android comparison>
But even in dis, u could see d clear difference in fluidness of d WP7 vs d Choppy Android.

This one is ah nice comparison, same hardware, so is OS vs OS in dis:
midway in d vid go have Web Comparison, and again wp7 is smoother, buttery.

Nuff vids to help men decide.
WP7 is V1, android is 2.2 aready, shame.
MS come good, and they go keep lashing.

I also have d same phone as cap, and I can attest that the UI isn't as snappy as the WP7 I got to play with recently (Samsung Focus). MS made an intelligent decision to use the GPU to do hardware acceleration for animations, and apps, in general. As quick as my Nexus is in launching apps and moving about the UI etc, it does feel jerky at times, and there is noticeable lag here and there - this is particularly evident when scrolling webpages - you can see the framerate chop along as you scroll about, whereas it's evidently smooth in WP7.

That being said, if you're even a moderate user of Google apps (Gmail, Calendar, Voice, etc), then Android is the obvious choice as Google has integrated them very nicely into the OS and they work and play very naturally on Android. I've seen how they work on iOS and although Google has gone to some lengths to give the same feel on Apple's device, they still feel somewhat like second-class citizens there imo.

On the development front, I'd choose WP7's Silverlight and .NET foundation in a heartbeat as I am already a C# developer and can easily get going on WP7 development being familiar with Visual Studio and many of Microsoft's other development tools. While I have done Java development in the past, I'm not a huge fan, so I'm not as quick to try to develop for Android, althought the thought has crossed my mind in the past. I never had the need to pick up C or C++, and although Apple's Objective-C language is supposed to be easier to get into, I have no interest in going that route.

As for messaging apps, messiah, you should read my cross-platform communications apps thread - there are many apps for doing cross-platform messaging, and not just between 2 platforms, so TEXTme still young in d dance tbh.

All that aside, Microsoft has done a commendable job on WP7 and has shown a higher level of maturity in WP7 than it's version number would typically indicate. Users of the platform are usually very happy with it and that says a lot imo. All they need to do now is pick up a significant portion of marketshare so as to spread that feeling. Will the Nokia deal do that for them? Who knows for sure? Only time will tell. I say good luck to them though because competition translates nicely for us end users.

Yea i know it have ah good few cross-plat messaging apps, and wp7 itself is young, which is why it so impressive, being just ah few months old, and sharing so much licks alreayd.

Competition makes the heart grow fonder, and everybody owe ah death of gratitude to apple.
For forcing men like MS to come correct!

Competition  = GG for consumers.

Nokia Offers Glimpse of Windows Phone 7 Concepts
« Reply #29 on: February 15, 2011, 04:17:53 PM »
http://www.pcworld.com/article/219676/nokia_offers_glimpse_of_windows_phone_7_concepts.html

If you were wondering what Nokia's Windows Phone 7 would look like, look no further. The mobile giant used the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to showcase two Windows Phone 7 concept devices that look slim and sleek, but the company did not say when they would be available.

The concept unveiling comes days after Nokia's announcement Friday that it will partner with Microsoft to create new top-range devices (thus leaving Symbian and MeeGo behind). Attendees of Nokia's keynote at the Mobile World Congress were shown two slides of phone concepts powered by Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system.

One phone is slim with rounded corners, has a speaker grill at the bottom, a standard headphone jack at the top and a hardware camera shutter and volume rocker are visible at the side on the device. Multiple color schemes for the same device seem to be in Nokia's plan book.

The second phone showed a slightly different concept model of a Windows Phone 7 that looks like the higher-end of the line of devices planned. The same image was leaked to Engadget a few days before. The phones feature the three standard Windows Phone 7 buttons at the front, with an overall minimalist look. Also visible are a camera with flash on the back, as well as a standard headphone jack and a power button at the top of the phone.

Nokia did not say whether these exact concepts would see the light of day, but they could be a clear indication where the company is heading. Meanwhile, Microsoft announced a few changes coming into a future Windows Phone 7 software update. These include access to SkyDrive, multitasking capability and a new HTML5 browser. These features will come after the first update to the OS, which is limited to adding copy and paste functionality and performance enchancements (scheduled to go out in early March).

The samsung focus has 512MB of ram.
Any review Claiming 256 is a mistake!

Like all launch Windows Phone 7 devices, the Focus is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1GHz CPU -- but unlike most other launch models sporting 512MB RAM, this one is only supported by 256MB of RAM (update: Samsung confirms that the Focus actually has 512MB of RAM)."

Yes, that is d best WP7 right now imo. I had high hopes for d dell, but d dell drop d ball, with numerous delays, and bugs in d hardware, first time in d smartphone game, dey have glitches to sort out. Samsung PWN everybody with its super amoled display. And for that and that reason only, i choose samsung over HTC. (youtube comparitive vids with focus vs dell vs htc, to see d diff between a super amoled display vs lcd, night and day).

I buy ah 32gb for mines, combine dat with d 8gb, and 40gb in dat beast.

^^ Indeed it is, nokia had to jump ship on dat, it woulda kill dem.

And another thing to note about wp7, batterylife rel good.
Men getting 2 days out of d samsung on average use, 5 days on light, and 1full day on realy heavy use. (You woudlnt like to know d android figures, i hear ah man take down ah android in 2 hrs lol).

And i snipe my samsung focus fuh 425$ unlocked, if that's not value, i dont know what is.
HD7 going for around at same thing unlocked also.

I find that claim of battery life very suspicious, particularly since the Focus has a Super AMOLED screen which eats battery faster, and going back to my favourite hardware analysis website, Anandtech, I confirmed my suspicions:

http://www.anandtech.com/show/4045/lgs-optimus-7-samsungs-focus-reviewed-a-tale-of-two-windows-phones/9

This pretty much sums it up:
Quote
Battery life is pretty straightforward. While the Focus has a very contrasty Super AMOLED screen, it comes at the expense of power consumption, especially when displaying white. Our web browsing test wreaks havoc on Super AMOLED devices as there are a lot of white pixels in the web pages we use to test. As a result the Focus delivers the worst battery life of any Windows Phone we've tested thus far.

Thankfully WP7's default theme is predominantly black. Other than the email and IE mobile apps, the majority of the OS is mostly displaying black pixels. So while the Focus doesn't do well in our web browsing battery life test, in general usage the phone lasts longer than you'd expect. I'd say you can plan on charging the phone at least once a day for moderate usage.

The LG Optimus 7 on the other hand does extremely well across the board. It has the same sized battery as the Focus, but with a much more power efficient display.

My real issue with these first-round WP7 phones is dat hardware-wise, dey so plain. In dat same review above, dey made mention of it too, saying that manufacturers seemed to take d safe route wit their first foray into WP7. Granted my Nexus is fairly plain by today's standards, but with all of the variety in today's market, I can't help but feel that early adopters of WP7 will feel particularly envious when round 2 drops.

The reviewer said it perfect, if u stupid enoug to put ah white background on ur focus, den ur battery will get rape. But other reviews show, wiht black oriented themes, d super amo display is actualy more battery efficiet than the typical lcd, becuase of d way it handles blacks. So depends on how u using d phone.

That aside, yes, hardware wise d current slew of wp7 is nothing to write home about.
And android users gettin first pick from new tech, watch dem Dual Core phones coming out for android aready, wp7 users need to wait at least 6 months for d same tech.
Its why i so excited about nokia anouncement, becuase they will release competing hardware upfront, no need to wait long long, cuase nokia put all dey eggs in MS basket, so level hardware form d get go. And nokia hardware bess, nobody could deny that.

Secondly, a android device need ah 1.2DC chip juss to keep up wiht a 1ghz single core wp7 device? shame! As of now, wp7 dont even need d addtional hardware specs, dies d beauty of it. But i eh say i eh want it, As nokia release, is sale button on dat samsung.

But weather which wp7 phone u go, performance will be outstnading, even on leftover tech. and i pay 425$ for my focus, at that price, u cant argue.

Again, I re-iterate. My Android device with a crapload of apps installed is buttery smooth with a single core snapdragon.

Your generalization of 'sluggish' is just that; a generalization that does not apply.

If you want a true generalization...ALL wp7 devices are the exact same os, layout and specs XD

every single review ive seen online, there was evidence of slugish behavior, mostly in d web browisng aspect. And i use a few differnet android devices, and see it as well.

U wont know what slugish is if u dont use something faster.

Get ur hands on a WP7 device, USE it, den u go understand what i talking about.
If u never expereince better, you wont know d difference.

Samsung Focus vs Samsung Captivate vid i posted earlier, identical hardware, and even dat it was clear in webbrowsin d wp7 was more polished, V1 device.
IE9 with even more polish hiting in just ah few months, available to ALL wp7 users.

E.G. Dual WD Raptor 10k RPM in Raid 0, was not sluggish at all, UNTILL i switch to Tri SSD RAID 0. The raptors quickly became "slugish!"
