Hoss yuh getting 6 cores @ 150USD RIGHT NOW! 8 Cores @ 300USD... unless it performs like a AthlonXP core, it should be BESSSS

...until I get my LGA 2011 Ivy Bridge CPU that beats the pants off these for the same price.  :laughing7:

Will it still be 'BESSSS' then?

IF it will be the same price is the question AND you can't forget price cuts :p it's been about price:performance for a LONG time now. AMD plays all the games out there with the best of em, I said gaming, nothing more, nothing less.

i still think that these dates and prices are fake because the FX8150 was set to release Q2 2012.. let's just wait and see what happens next month.

I read one or two of the reviews.

AMD has finally brought the pain with the FX-8150.  :icon_thumright:

I tell you...this new CPU is the stuff legends are made of, especially when you consider
the price point.  I didn't expect it to dethrone Intel's 980/990X, but boy oh boy am I
impressed with its overall performance.  No logical cores here.  Eight bad-boys FTW.

I fully expect that Intel's Sandy Bridge-E/X79 CPUs might remove some of that luster
in the coming months, but I also expect the price to be significantly higher as well.

At 245 US though, suddenly I have to seriously reconsider my upgrade options,
but I will wait to see how the market shapes up when Intel drops their LGA-2011 CPUs.

Still, I can't help but wholeheartedly recommend this as a seriously viable upgrade option,
especially when paired with the outstanding Asus Crosshair V Formula 990FX motherboard.

GG AMD.  Finally.

to tell you the honset truth Arc, i am not seeing a much improvement from the black edition 6 cores, hence the reason i said i would wait, i am  kinda disappointed.

Well, the gains from 6 to 8 cores may not be as substantial, so I can appreciate
your disappointment, but the FX-8150 was made for overclocking.  I am sure that
disappointment will evaporate once you see the results at 4 GHz and above.

8 physical cores running at 4GHz+ is beastly performance.

I would like to see a direct comparison of this against one of the lower tier
LGA-1366 Intel CPUs though, like the 920, or 950, which are around the same price point.
I'm willing to bet the FX-8150 might come out as the winner there.

sure 8 physical cores @ 4ghz would be nice.. if applications could actually multi-thread for it...

i think these conclusions sums up pretty much why the bulldozer not living up to its name:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/fx-8150-zambezi-bulldozer-990fx,3043-24.html

http://www.guru3d.com/article/amd-fx-8150-processor-review/21

overclocking numbers arent everything

in terms of gaming performance, they are just reaching up to the i2500k with this chip at a higher price.

until games start to heavily utilise multi-threads more over 6-8 cores, amds current formula will not beat intels (fast per core performance)
