I still find RPGs to be a matter of taste. I've tried to get into oblivion (vanilla or filled with the greatest mods) and I just can't play the game. It isn't fun for me. But there are other RPGs that i get totally lost in... i really hope skyrim gets me unlike the predecessor.

I know what you mean. Berzerk was ravin' over Witcher 1 (and made me by the game as a result)

Still hasn't gripped me.

Now he's raving about Witcher 2 (once bitten twice shy). lol

Don't think I'll have that problem with Skyrim though. From all accounts, it is just going to win.

Really Really wish there was more time in my life to play all of these epic games yes.

wtb: rune of early retirement.

Well i was not excited for this at all. I really tried to play Oblivion and Fallout 3 but I hate first person RPGs. I finally got around to looking at the E3 demo and I am sold. It looks excellent and it appears to play very good as well.

Any game that has randomly spawned dragons flying around is WIN!

I like RPG's bcuz of the amount of choices and options available. It really lets you play the game the way u would if you were actually in that world.

u hatta be joking. u saw ANY reviews of witcher 2 so far? or even played it?

im speaking of witcher 2 btw not witcher 1. it has gotten exceptional reviews all round so far.

and Bethesda not exactly rolling out the hits this year, though I know Skyrim will be excellent. just not sure which rpg would come out on top.

Dude even Oblivion and Fallout 3 with all their flaws were given high praise. Plus as Messiah pointed out Bethesda is the bigger dev so it'll be a David VS Goliath battle but anything is possible so I'll wait and see.

Randomly Spawned Unscripted Dragons! GG!

Dragons, who happens to be integral to the game's storyline.
Who's souls u absorb when u kill them, to be used in magical attacks.

I CANT WAIT!

I know what u mean. I just started dungeon siege 3 which has been getting alot of attention leading up to the release, but boy does it suck for me. I really dislike the game play mechanics of it. But having played through oblivion, I actually hold all my rpgs to that standard. I honestly don't see skyrim going down from oblivion, as the overall gameplay does seem quite similar (first person) and the intro of third person as well for the dragon age fans. So for you who disliked oblivion, if its the story u hated then perhaps u can enjoy skyrim, but if its the gameplay, then i won't hold my breath if i were u.

^that was the interview I saw on tv. 13 mins long. They give more insight into the game in that vid.

All the gameplay mechanics seem to be totally revamped so no need to worry.

GOTY is between this, and Uncharted 3, thats my prediction. either one of them will win it.

So u really think Arkham City, Rage, ME3 or Bioshock Infinite don't stand a chance? Uncharted 3 looks amazing an all, but there are other titles that I think could turn out just as good (maybe even better).

BTW, anyone who could say Skyrim would mash up Witcher 2 easily has definitely never played it. While it's possible for Skyrim to turn out to be an overall better game, to say that Witcher won't stand a chance is just crazy talk. Witcher 2 was an amazing game and will surely give Skyrim a run for its money for that GOTY title.

i dont think yall understand whats going on with skyrim...

oblivion with all its flaws was GOTY and beat out many great titles... skyrim is the follow up to that and has even MORE hype... and coming from a studio who has a great track record...
i really dont see witcher 2 standing any sort of a chance.... and by that i dont mean it wont be in the running... it just cant win... it may be right behind skyrim.. but it just cant win

the things that they are doing in skyrim are just game changing, and thats the strengths of the elder scroll series in any case... they do things that no other RPG has done.. and they do it exceptionally well

cant wait for this to drop

time will tell. im REALLY looking foward to skyrim, I loved Morrowind (hated oblivion btw)

and the gameplay vids have me salivating. but ive been hella dissapointed with titles of late (Dragon age 2 comes to mind) so ill reserve judgement till it drops.

As for witcher 2, im playing it now, and enjoying every literal moment of it, it even surpasses dragon age 1 imo.

Again, im in no way saying Skyrim would be crap, just hope it reaches and exceeds expectations.

just because the original was GOTY doesn't mean this one will get the same praise. don't get me wrong, i hope this game lives up to every bit of the hype, but until the final game is released, i'll reserve my judgement.

it's not impossible for a publisher like Bethesda to drop the ball. what if the game's released with mission stopping bugs and AI issues? if i'm not mistaken, their last epic had quite a few bugs that turned quite a few people off. i really hope this won't be the case, but u could never know.

i just can't say that an unreleased game will 'DEFINITELY' be better than an already released masterpiece.

Rage, those other games u call, some of them releasing next year, so obviosuly they cant win goty 2011 lololol. that being said, d onyl one u list there that coudl compete with skyrim is me3.
As for uncharted, both 1 and 2 got GOTY  and won many awards. Naughty Dog is ah boss. It will boil down between that and skyrim.

And is better to put yuh money on game whose previous release got GOTY than franchises that didnt. i.e. witcher, batman, bioshock, etc.

rage is new, and looks really really good, but as phoenix pointed out, skyrim is ah game changer. Bottom line, Skryim or Uncharted 3 taking GOTY. draw back to this post when they win :)

ummm, just so u didn't kno, the only game not coming out this year is Bioshock Infinite. So u could replace that wit B3.

Also, Drake's Fortune DID NOT win overall game of the year. It won best PS3 and Action game of 2007.

I still think Arkham City and ME3 stand a good chance.

Bob, ME3 got posponed til 2012:

http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/142/14235014.html watch d release date.

Also, B3 will be good, but it not in these other games leage. Not well rounded enough.

Also, Arkham city vs Uncharted 3? uncharted 3 will destroy it, muchless skyrim.

Also:

The numbers are in Uncharted 3 favor, and skyrim speaks for itself.

Only game i see coudl come from left feild and cut both ass is Zelda: Skyward Sword.

Edit: IGN 2010 GOTY : (Rel Kix) :

Well last I checked, it was coming out this year, so....

lol @ B3 not being "well rounded enough". Not too sure what that means.

And about U3 destroying Arkham City........yeah probably. But I wouldn't put them outta the race.

Firstly, i din say arkham city not in d race u know, i said it cannot win. There is a diff, dey mite be a runner up for goty, but it not beatin uncharted 3.

Also, B3 is focused at a very specific audience, goty have to be broader, and cover alot more aspects than b3 will cover, story/gameplay/graphics/ etc etc. B3 not strong enough in all areas to take goty. story being retardedly weak, comapred to the others.

Its why Mario Galaxy 2 got a perfect 10 from every major gaming site, but ME2 beat it for GOTY. Mario was not well rounded enough to take d throne. Despite being a perfect game.

Tell me if I'm wrong, but didn't Battlefield 1942 win GOTY in 2002? Without a single player mode in sight?

I mean B3 has the gameplay, graphics, sound, the multiplayer aspect of course and a story mode (which we kno very little about to call it 'retardedly weak' might i add). i still fail to see how it's not well rounded enough.
