well at the end of the game, I was presented with three major options.

When IGN says 17 endings, they are probably referring to changes in minor plot elements. As in, which of your friends  were alive / dead. Which alien races you were able to forge alliances with, which enemies you spared / killed.

All would have subtle effects on the end scenario. Another brilliant aspect to bioware games. Love it.

the endings depend upon how high a readiness rating you have which will result in one of these
and also i saw the secret ending...................veryyyyyyy interesting.

One point of note: the spoiler tags don't work in Tapatalk, so I just realized that I unwittingly read a whole lot of what I probably shouldn't.  :(

No matter...by the time I'm ready to buy this I'll probably forget.

Exactly, and all of the things I mentioned there as minor plot elements will affect your readiness rating.

I imported my mass effect 2 character and got all three major ending options as a result of massive alliances forged across the galaxy. (galactic readiness rating of 6518 to face the reapers)

got my interest piqued on this secret ending though. Gonna read up more on that.

damn just did some searches on the ending and so on and the fans are going hard on bioware to change it or at least make a dlc with an alternate ending, petitions for so next thing you know there gonna be street riots.
It's kinda to be expected when you make a game this epic and get us all attached to the mass effect universe an it's characters.

Seriously? Wow... Before they protest about game prices being too high (yes i cheap, $60 USD for a game with low longevity is BS imo), a better ending? Good grief.

lol, part of which movement? the "happy" ending or the game prices being too high?

I've read about four or five forums of people's comments on the ending of the game.

It has so many variations, yet the masses seem to be pleased with none of them.

perfectly happy with the one I chose though. most who thought the ending were fine also chose that same path and for the same reason.

After reading so many views and complaints, I can understand their position. A lot of people grew so emotionally attached to the characters that they want either a) a happy ending or b) a detailed explanation of the state of affairs in the galaxy after the final battle.

Maybe bioware will offer those via DLC. Left to be seen.

I went renegade route, spared no-one, took no prisoners.
At the end of me2, my shepard's face was red with cuts and bruises, with an alien lookin red vein runing through his neck and red eyes.

At the end of the final mission, i was left with 3-4 teammates.

Porting that same savegame across to me3, and going the same route.

No rest for the wicked.
