D thing i tell ppl bout pc gaming, these days its so cheap.
And almost all d machiens selling in d US now capable of playing games.

Someone who come of age, mite not be out to get himself a "GAMING" pc, but d way d tech industry going, dey go have one by nature. Unless dey content with a shitbook.

But even d netbook market is chaning, watch my netbook runing level games.
And newer tech coming out getin cheaper.
Dat runing dese games.

So there is still hope for ppl who want d easy way out to gravitate to pc gaming, if dey realise d pc dey would have bought anyways, capable of playing game.
Or if dey realise for ah extra 100$ dey coudl up d gpu to run games sweet.

I don't think LAN parties killed PC gaming, whilst it harbored piracy, blaming a tool for the craftmans dirty work is harsh. That aside, I think online play is the evolution of the LAN party (that being said I would still love a good old LAN sweat, as online has its latency, interruptions, etc problems). I agree on both fronts that the kiddies are prolly MOSTLY on consoles and there needs to be more attention for PC gaming, at the same time with the world pushing ahead in education and bringing PCs to the kids, children will not escape using a PC from earlier and earlier and guess what gaming on a PC is inherent... maybe not an exclusive titles, but every kids knows to play solitaire on a PC so it's not invisible, just it could be more 'in your face'.

I am concerned about blizzard as though they've produced the most popular PC gaming titles... they are pwned by blacktivision (did I get that right or was it EA? either way both as horribad) and as we have all seen... they only care about 1 thing... bottom lines... so it's only a matter of time before that mentality makes us suffer (be it on the PC or consoles). I am inclined to think the PC as the bottom lines are thinner there...

The entire nation of SEA students in Trinidad got laptops from the government.

Those laptops could run WoW but they ain't gonna run BlackOps better than a console (nor Rage, or Bulletstorm or *insert your PC saviour game here*)

We've lost generation Y.

10 years ago, the PC and Console were sufficiently different for it to make sense to have both. Regardless of price. Mind you, a PC was VERY expensive back then and even so, gamers would have a PC and a console.

Fast forward to today, the difference is not sufficient enough to warrant having both. The vast majority of gamers and I do mean VAST, have only a console. Not a gaming PC. Not both. Many A list titles are available on both.

Look to the future, the difference will be negligible.

The traditional RPGs have already been dumb downed enough to be viable on consoles (Dragon Age, ME2, etc...)

Only the MMOs and MOBAs remain (for now)

It is absolutely safe to assume that the PC numbers will further dwindle UNLESS Berserks hit list is massively successful sales wise and shakes up the industry.

Now let us make the distinction between the PC platform and the "PC Platform"

Awesome alluded to it.

There is an entire industry within the industry that is the MMO behemoth of World of Warcraft.

That machine is as strong as it ever was and under no threat whatsoever.

It has sucked up and refuses to relinquish millions of PC gamers.  Its like crack cocaine.

No doubt a lot of console converts are in those numbers as well.

There is less and less of a diaspora outside of WoW and that is a MASSIVE problem for the rest of the PC industry. Themselves fighting for craps left by Blizzard/Activision.

Unfortunately, the WoW community is a creature unto itself. Note, despite it being the #1 PC game and no doubt the most played title amongst gamers on the island, it has very little presence on this site.

So self sufficient and complete is WoW for its patrons that it renders most everything else insignificant.

There I said it (and I didn't want to say it)

rofl ent i just hadda laugh @ what i seeing in this thread...

Guys dont go painting a doom and gloom picture if their is none... industry leaders are not doing it and they have millions invested in it...

what do we have invested in it? we are gamers and will game wherever... you guys are content to drive a stake in the heart of pc gaming despite all the evidence that has been posted in this thread about it being alive and kicking... and it eventually turning out to be a console vs pc

again i re-iterate... pc gaming is in a healthy position... whether consoles infront or not is beside the point.. pc gaming aint dead or dying sigh

At this point, I think we are just spinning top in mud.

I personally disagree that PC is healthy, couldnt be further from the truth.

Others believe that it is well.

We'll chalk it up to differences in opinion. No need to beat this topic any further guys.

lol @ old times day medley

ENT!

+1 to you sir.

Phoenix, let the alarm continue to ring...some pundits say its dead, some say its dying, some say its alive, some say it still has a chance.

Time will tell who is right but let the alarm continue to ring!

Lets not become complacent.

Check this other wtfpwn scenario.

Noob kid goes over to his gamer friends house during the Christmas holidays, hilarity ensues:

Console Scenario

Console gamer: Hey bro, I just bought the new blackop for 360, wanna play?
Noob: sure! What do I have to do?
Console Gamer: Just pick up that wireless controller there and we'll go online and kick some ass together
Noob: SWEET!

PC Scenario

PC Gamer: Hey Bro, I just bought the new Blackops for PC, wanna play?
Noob: Sure! What do I have to do?
PC Gamer: Oh well go buy a gaming PC, get a net connection, get on steam, buy the game and see if you could join the same server I'm playing on (if it has room
Noob: ...

And we wonder why console growing exponentially.

Companies Investing is different from
people investing time into it. It's obvious to me, that less people are investing time in PC gaming and MORE in console's.
The trend is followed by people developing PC games IN my opinion because it is simply less profitable to do so.

well that is the worlds greatest oversimplification of an issue. (but you're right for the most part)

Not so sure about the coma after seeing Berserks list

Anyway, let me get back to the analysis.

New Games are being made, and new titles new stories, but when u look at it, Nothing 'NEW' is being done. My point is that, 'advancements' in PC gaming has stagnated, whereas advancements are being made every day in console gaming.

I understand everyone having healthy convo about this topic and what not. It's all good to voice opinions etc esp an issue such as this but I am honestly fedup of this thread as I have been reading almost every post but it has degenerated into, sad to say, senseless babble and poking this opinion here, with rebuttals there which seem to be endless.

Please direct your attention to what I posted in the Official Steam Download Thread and hopefully we can go ahead from there.......this is my last post in this particular topic btw.

*Note: Think about the message that is being given to those many silent viewers on our forum, just my 2c...*
