may i interject...

let all of us, not pirate one dam pc game from now on. not ever. not for pc beta testing, not for nun. it is a small little contribution we could all try. if we like it we could buy it. if it doh start somewhere well it might never gain momentum.

I understand which is all good but what would this solve really?

Even if you had all the bandwidth to download an pirate a game how u gonna play it with a PC that cant run it?

It's exactly what happen with StarCraft 2 in Asia.

Like Awsome said Requirements gettin too ridiculous.

But apart from this there are alot more factors needed to take into consideration that cud negate this post.

For ALL the short comings, downfalls, fumbles of PC gaming, (curent gen.)consoles have solved, addressed and took advantage of this and they continue to do so...an I do mean ALL.

Props to allyuh oui...like I tell w1n and dem dis weekend on XBL, I cannot in my right mind put dong meh hard earned cash on PC games nah, jes cyannot. I was also tellin dem dat when Micorosft had banhammer all dem men fuh playin MW2 before release etc, dat I was actually trollin craigslist and kijiji lookin fuh a banned Xbox to buy fuh cheap so I could conduc some games on it dat I nah wanna drop d cash on. Never did get dat extra Xbox, and right now I doh have d extra cash to pick one up, buh maybe in d new year.

My other beef wit PC gaming...I went and spend one set ah money to upgrade meh PC last year, pick up new processor, ram, graphics card all kinda ting...waste. What have I played between then and now? Not one ass worthy of d upgrade - I played Torchlight, but that certainly wasn't needing the upgrade. Sweat even more Halo 3, den ODST, den back to Halo 3, den MW2, den Reach, now BOps. What has my PC been doing all this time? Allowin my gf to play Sims 3 on ultra high settings...yay! /rolleyes

I've seen Battlefield bad company 2 on the 360 and I dunno, the levels of AA was just abysmal.

Like I said, i'll enjoy PC gaming while it lasts. I'll also take in the action on the console side time permitting. Win win.

on a small scale, if everyone at least tries, we could make some progress, but if we all ask that same question, then we might as well throw up our hands and say PC gaming = gg.

its about support, either u support it and pay for the games or you dont. thats how I seein it.

it doesnt matter what proof, evidence, steam sales increase over d past few years, it doesnt matter what we say, console men mind made up, pc gaming dead lol, so at that note, i give up. lol. cuase it eh making sense, alyuh lash console hard.

Ill continue strong on d pc front.

And my netbook can run starcraft 2 no problem, so i dont get d point men making of having to get ah uber rig to play. and my laptop have d lowest i3 processor, and ah gt310M. But obviosuly if u want to squeeze all d goodness out, u need to spend d cash. Which is understanble some men not willing to spend.

But if u not willing to buy d ppl pc game, dont pirate it atal. Juss dont play it.
And if d game is worth d time of day to download/pirate/and play. Den buy it.

rubbish like this flooding the market doesn't help either

You could just imagine the specs on these beauties.

Dumping expired, out of warranty crap on "developing" markets.

What's the specs on your netbook btw Messiaah? and Price?

I'll include that in the PC vs Console Scientific Comparison.

No its not dead but is it going to get better? Most likely not.

Black Ops is a classic example why things aint gonna get any better.

3 to 4 years ago, things were still looking rosy, now, not so much.

At least from where Im sitting.

In any event, I have guns in all directions so any which way the blocks tumble, I win.

Never heard of trends? This industry is all about trends and leaders.

Black Ops, like it or not has set a new benchmark.

Things can only go downwards with a big name like that doing this kinna nonsense in an already unstable foundation.

What i heard of is research :S
Read d articles please, i not going to say pc gaming going to dead because black ops is shit, i dont like cod games to begin with so who cares lol.

But with d biggest "trend" makers "blizzard" being so vastly successful, i dont see how black ops by itself going to drag pc gaming to its doom.

Watch bulletstorm and rage, dies what i lookin foward to, and d pc versions are going to be up to standard wait and see.

But so far, all d articles, reviews, previews, overviews, everything i find says.
Pc gaming not dead, and not going to be dead by a long shot.

Discard all dat and say it dead cause blackops is shit? I think not.

black ops en create no trend. trend was there from way before.

but if u look at the overall INDUSTRY. the pc market is changing. some may say it getting better, some may say worse. what ive seen and experienced in GENERAL is that its better. smaller than console, but still a unique way for mods, and independent games to thrive. That is one avenue the pc have down pack.

Activision and Treyarch are not the entire industry. if it wasnt getting better, steam would not have gotten so big, nor would microsoft have made gfw so much more complex.

thats just treyarch putting all dey eggs in the console basket. which was still better than the amount r&d put into mw 2 from last year. (If u wana use cod as the basis of the argument.)

no one disputing console superiority. numbers en lying. but pc gaming aint dying. (oui sah ah rhymin!) and I believe its in a stage of transition. when steam GFW and blizzard say gg, then I will be 100% console. that not happening anytime soon.

and if yuh wana talk about leaders again.

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gamehunters/post/2010/12/world-of-warcraft-cataclysm-sells-33-million-in-first-24-hours/1

Funny that you all mention L4D2.  Finally bought it last night.

...and as a multi-platform owner, and as a former console-only fanboy,
isn't it interesting that most of my gaming is now on the PC?

With all its intricacies, and frustrations, the PC will always be my first choice
as a gaming platform.  XBL and PSN users have wondered why I'm not on as often,
and I'll tell you why: the types of games I play tend to have me gravitating more
and more to the PC.  While its true that a lot of those games exist on console,
I just happen to enjoy those games with a mouse and keyboard.

Of course, I won't be selling my consoles anytime soon...there are just too many
great exclusives that need to be experienced, like the new Uncharted,
but there's something about putting together a technically superior rig, and breathing
your own style and personality into it that cannot be put into words.
It takes a lot of time, and a whole lot more money, but its a labour of love that is
currently unmatched by the consoles, but then, I am now pro-PC, so that viewpoint
might seem a little biased. :sassy:

As I've always said, Steam is definitely a step in the right direction, and one of the reasons
that I've kept up with the Joneses so to speak, with yearly upgrades now, as other commitments
begin to take precedence.  I'll be the first to admit, that I was a 'trini-trialing' SOB :laughing7:, but that
has changed over the last two years or so.  Steam has made it so easy to buy PC games now,
that I am almost 'too lazy' to go to an actual store to buy a game, be it PC or console.

Its true that consoles have heralded a mass-migration of gamers over the past few years,
and yes, its true that the hardcore PC-gaming community has dwindled, as the minimum reqs
get more and more ridiculous.  One consolation however, is that PC hardware prices have come
down a lot over the past five years, so today, 6000 TT can buy a lot more PC than five years ago,
and if you stick to a regular upgrade cycle, it won't be as hurtful on your wallet.  Of course, the
pro-console camp will argue that none of that is really necessary, but its a choice right, and you
CHOOSE to be pro-console.

Thankfully, I am one of those who are pro-GAMING more than anything else, so I tend to want to
dabble in a bit of everything.  I personally wish the PC had more exclusives, but I can understan
why the main focus has shifted.

Has the landscape of PC-gaming changed?  Definitely.

Is PC-gaming dying?  I don't think so.  It has definitely gotten smaller in scope, but I certainly
don't think that its 'dying'.

...and those WoW: Cataclysm figures are astounding, and certainly paint a particular picture of the industry.

Consider what we have seen over the years...

96-2005 - PC gaming heaven, nothing could touch it, everybody wanted to be it.

2005 - 2008 - Consoles begin to take over sales wise. PC gaming still had graphics and superior online experience due to dedicated servers and proper, well established internet support.

2008 - present - Consoles fully take over, ports to pc now an afterthought. Internet play now more or less on the same level across all platforms, just a handful of games actually make full use of pc hardware. Abysmal support for these console ports, PC exclusives almost a thing of the past.

Clearly there has been a profound paradigm shift that continues unabated with no end in sight. Yes, pc gaming continues to live but define 'live'. 90% console ports, a sprinkling cases where pc outshines consoles. With a community as big as that of the console and no real incentive to stay on the pc, why not jump to a hastle free, well supported platform.

The answer is, with very few exceptions...NONE.

I guess being on life support technically means not being dead but once the machines are turned off, its lights out.

I would hardly call Steam or Blizzard, or even GFW 'life support'.

in some ways the same way PS3 has PSN, or 360 has xbox live, steam is becoming PC version of representing that part of the gaming community.

now if Blizzard, steam and GFW come together, well yes. good times.

Pc gaming not dead, it not on no life support neither. its smaller in scope, but its showing a lot more love to independent developers, and is the flag carrier for wanabe game developers and is the platform of choice for the real behemoth of all games. non other than WOW.

i believe that most developers want the pc to survive, because their is a market, especially thanks to steam. once steam continues to grow, (and is properly supported) i believe much needed life would flow back pc side.

we all sowed some seed in the destruction of pc gaming. now there is some hope. either u give it up utterly, and prepare to make an uncompromised jump or you continue to support.

And there's only so much those things can do for the industry. Much of them has been around for a while and has done precious little to brake the fall.

Remember I never said black ops kill pc gaming, just that it certainly did huge damage.

On a more personal level, out of those things u listed, 90% dont matter, just steam and Arc in my book lol.

The ONLY game in recent past that i've been almost thoroughly pleased with is BC2, and I say almost only because how long DICE took to keep their free maps promise. Apart from that, once I have my kb&m a console could keep me quite happy.

Like I said before, im still a staunch supporter of the pc but seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, but that light aint the sun, its a train coming at full speed.
