Never bothered with Amazon app store.
Hahahaha... Oh Rage... A custom firmware/kernel will fix that battery issue somewhat, but you'll have to root it. Currently, the best custom ROM for the S3 is Omega v34, which features JB v4.1.2, combined with the latest Siyah kernel. That ROM/kernel combo would regularly get me around 15-17 hrs daily heavy use. When you ready to see just how deep that rabbit hole goes...check me. SwiftKeyed from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with Tapatalk 2
600APPS?Rage, you sir are INSANEI'm feeling sorry for that poor phone.I've been very selective at first with which apps I installed on my Galaxy Nexus. Two reasons.1) I don't want the phone running sluggishly due to many apps hogging the memory.2) I don't want any shady apps gaining access to my personal data. With 600 apps, you've rolled the dice so many times, aren't you worried about an unscrupulous app making off with your data?
The only apps that were detected as being potentially dangerous were King Pirate I and II

Surely you jest. Hmmm..... Omega and Siyah supposed to be THE hand-in-glove combo to better battery life on the S3.Try running the battery down to zero and recharging it to full (with the phone off) at least three times, and see if the battery efficiency improves. I always do that whenever I change ROM/kernel. SwiftKeyed from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with Tapatalk 2
The best way to stay safe on Android is to just stick to established apps from the official Android Market or the Amazon Appstore. While bad apps do occasionally show up in the Market, Google removes them swiftly and can remotely kill the apps on phones. Most of the truly dangerous threats have been detected on forums and third-party websites masquerading as well-known apps. Basically, don’t install a version of “Cut the Rope” obtained from a Chinese pirated software forum. By leaving the Unknown Sources option disabled in the Android settings, apps cannot even be sideloaded from other sources, which blocks this vector completely.
