Boy I would love to do that but I have 2 small problems.

1/ I'm a complete noon when it comes to phones and flashing
2/ On almost everything I read there I hearing people talk of bricking their device and bet yuh  bottom dollar I can't afford to do so.

So that is why I was wondering if anyone here had a legit update. I doh mind using custom stuff as long as it safe.

seriously it is really easy. Firstly properly read the instructions and make sure you understand the terminology(really important), if you don't there is always a FAQ/Bible for each device within the sub-forum. You also have us and the andriod community to help you.

I did a factory reset on my Note and it automatically detected the ICS update when I turned on the phone. Asked me if I wanted to download and apply. After I did that I went on to an ics rom from xda....

Don't know why yours isn't seeing the update. Anyone have suggestions?

What an evening. I decided to bite the big one and fight down to get ICS. I started by installing odin mobile and when I tried to install an ICS kernel ... BOOM! Bricked! (or at least what i would describe as being bricked) I get the samsung galaxy note splash message and then blank screen, with nothing doable.

Now, for some reason, I could not get PC Odin to detect my phone, thanks to Samsung Kies Effin up with the drivers (Yup, my phone can't connect to kies on the PC). So I do some fighting up and re installations and I eventually got the drivers to detect my phone. I tried flashing the ICS kernel again through PC odin and FAILURE!!! I was pissed! I know there was a reason for delaying the whole custom route. And this was it!

After pulling out my hair for a bit, I went and find a stock gb kernel, and low and behold PC odin was able to flash it and my phone was able to start. Then I grabbed the Abyss 4.2 kernel and Clean Note 4 ICS Rom as well as the Optimized TouchwizUX and Wifi fix, sent them to my stock phone via samsung kies air, rebooted in CWM and BOOM, ICS was installed within 15 to 20 minutes (Believe that I took my time).

I am very happy now that I am finally running ICS, which is just so ridiculously smooth. Side note, even after a factory reset and stock kernel/rom, my phone still wasn't seeing the official ICS software update ... weird huh.

Stock Samsung is lasted exactly 20 minutes when I got the phone for the first time. Only used stock firmware to make one or two calls to test functionality but after that PARANOIDANDROID ics rom went on with the quickness.

Tablet mode is THE only way to use an awesome device like the Note. I cld never ever ever go back to using a Samsung build or even normal cm9 phone mode interface!!!

I wondering why yes. I wonder if it have something to do with bmobile, after all it was there that I purchased mine.

TBH Google was my friend. Too many threads in XDA and for a complete NOOB like me, it was all a bit overwhelming thinking I just shot my phone to sh!t. Although, it did lead to youtube vids and other sites which took me to the relevant XDA threads.

This I wouldn't mind but do you use any of the note's S pen features? Or any app incompatibilities?

Thats the beauty of Android. There are loads of s-memo like apps out there. Palm rejection is now built into the CM9 framework (wasnt up to about a month ago) so they now work really well.

And no app incompatibilities whatsoever!

Were YOU going to buy a S3?

TSTT brighter than you.  :laughing7:

How much you want to bet ALL them 'old phone' compatible with their upcoming '4G' network.

...and they're all Android-based, I might add.

Man...shovel phone yes.
