I wonder if you try to purchase via wi-fi, using the usvideo.org DNS, will it work?

It works for Amazon video, so why not this?  I'll have to try it when I get home.

once you dont need to do this to it to get good battery life:

Well, If I want to use a bigger battery, that's my choice eh.  Samsung needs to make better batteries,
I've already said this, so what's your point really?

sure its "your choice" to use a bigger battery, but its also "my choice" to say you shouldnt have to mutilate a perfectly good looking device like that hehe... and is not Samsung eh, my new Focus lasts a long time with e.thing enabled (am just saying :))

As for that 4.3 inch screen, isn't an advantage of the S-LCD over the AMOLED is less power usage on SLCD?

I'm not a huge fan of the mega batteries but at least ya got choice :p

thats a misconception... SLCD drains less power when white colors are used, when dark colors are used samoled drains less power...

so depends on the kinda of images you display etc on your device.

Well seeing that web browsing is pretty popular and most sites have white backgrounds, slcd would therefore give improved real world battery life.

As for the Focus, reviews showed average battery life at best. Arc would have been in the same power situation based on his usage.

umm not sure what reviews you're reading, but it is well known that the focus (dunno if all samsung phones) battery life increases after its first few days of use (so any review that reviewed with under 3 days of use wouldnt get an accurate gauge)... i've experienced that as well...

other than that most reviews i read reported good battery life

and @ slcd, thats granted you are using your phone to browse alot of sites (its all situational)

I am basing it on reviews others posted on forums. Battery life reviews are mixed, didn't see anything great about the focus in terms of battery. I view many websites so my battery does take a hit due to amoled.

Screen tech difference has negligible impact on battery life, regardless of usage.

And yes, li-ion battery tech in general needs a few charge/discharge cycles to get the optimal performance. This is not peculiar to any one manufacturer.

yea which is why i said don't say samsung batteries are bad, but... li-ion doesnt need charge-recharge cycles and sometimes that can actually lessen the performance...

check out one of the many links on the topic:

and @ woody, i din say the focus battery was great (i dont think any high end smartphone has great battery life), i just said it was long.. meaning from 5am-9pm on heavy usage (extreme usage for about 3-4 hrs) i'm @ 10%

They really need to fast track some kind of ultra battery tech yes.

My dream battery = some sort of hydrogen/fuel cell tech, 5 minute charge time, 5 DAY run time, extreme use. One charge Sunday night and you good till Friday.

Yeah I know about the charge/discharge cycles. Now that you clarified, seems about right. I get about that on my Captivate as well.

I was thinking about doing this, think it will improve the accuracy of my battery levels? Seems counter intuitive since these batteries have a limited amount of cycles before they die....

I don't see why not.

I've always wondered what's the proper way to calibrate the battery.  Now I know.
I shall try that as soon as I'm done charging.

Re: Everything Android [APP - Rings Extended]
« Reply #234 on: March 28, 2011, 05:44:26 PM »
LOL...yeah, it will take me a WHILE to fully exhaust the battery eh.

Found an app that allows you to set custom ringtones for everything.
When installed, every time you have to select a notification ringtone (in any app,
system or 3rd-party), a dialog appears asking you to use the stock Android selector
or this app.  So now you're not stuck with using the stock Samsung sounds.

GREAT!!!  So now I can use the proper MSN sound for MSN Talk, and I can use
whatever I want for my SMS notification, and I can use the proper Hotmail sound
for my email.  YAY!!!  :happy0203:

I tried to download a free app off the Amazon Marketplace, no luck due to region restriction, I know we can bypass but not really worth it for me at the moment......Applanet......
