I'll wait a little longer for my phone, the ones on xda still have issues on the note.....

 http://m.yahoo.com/w/news_america/galaxy-note-ics-officially-delayed-contain-premium-suite-123816569.html?orig_host_hdr=news.yahoo.com&.intl=us&.lang=en-us

Galaxy Note ICS update officially delayed, but will contain Premium Suite bonus when it finally arrives

Last week, when a post on Samsung’s Norwegian Facebook page stated the Galaxy Note’s update to Android 4.0 would not arrive until April at the soonest, it was as something of a surprise. After all, the company had just started sending out the latest version of the OS to its Galaxy S II phone, and had repeatedly promised a pre-April release for the Note.Unfortunately, the delay has now been confirmed by Samsung, but it has wrapped the bad news up in some good news to appease disappointed Note owners.

First, and perhaps best of all, is that the Note’s Ice Cream Sandwich update will be distributed worldwide during the second quarter of the year, meaning it should be in the hands of the networks between April and June.

Samsung continues to say “the availability and scheduling of the software upgrade will vary by market and wireless carriers’ requirements,” but as the Note is an AT&T exclusive in North America — and therefore only has one pair of hands to go through — perhaps it won’t suffer from any further delay.Premium Suite The second piece of good news is that the update won’t merely contain Ice Cream Sandwich and all its new features, but will also be packaged with what Samsung is calling the “Premium Suite.”This will add more applications designed to make use of the S-Pen stylus, including S Note, where images, sketches and notes can be brought together, scrapbook-style, in one place, plus My Story, for creating personalized electronic cards, and updates to the Memo feature.The newly released Angry Birds Space game will come pre-installed too, complete with the option to download 30 Danger Zone levels exclusive to the Note.

Providing added value to an OS update is a great idea, and certainly softens the blow of having to wait a while longer for it to arrive, and it’s a strategy to which other manufacturers with ICS waiting in the wings should consider adopting. Samsung is obviously pleased with its decision too, as it has released a video showing the Premium Suite in action. Say what you like about the Note’s S-Pen stylus and massive screen, but they both look like fun to use here.

I bought this a few days ago to get my football fix wherever I go. I prefer buying this over the freemium model Real Football 2012 uses, simply because there are no ads and no "coins" to deal with.

Decent phone indeed, I wonder if the trend will continue with no sd slot. Not a big fan of non user replaceable batteries though.

Wow... I just read it myself.  Sweet piece of kit, but HTC could keep dat.  :laughing7:

What I like:

* Screen/display tech
* Camera
* Guts (Tegra 3 '4-PLUS-1')
* 32 GB storage

What I don't like:

* It's white  (eGAD)
* Protruding camera - that glass WILL get scratched up over time
* No SD-card slot
* NON-REMOVABLE/REPLACEABLE BATTERY  O_O - What. The. Actual. F@#K!!? .....whatever interest I had in that phone EVAPORATED right there.
   I am very sorry...I'm a power user... I carry an extra battery around with me most times.  Yes.  Fo reals.  Deal with it.  You make a phone that
   guzzles power and then equip it with a NON-REMOVABLE BATTERY!!?  Unbelievable.  That's the ULTIMATE deal-breaker for me right there.

Others may find this phone the 'best thing ever' (and it's got GREAT hardware, yes) but it isn't...not by a LONG shot.

I patiently await Samsung's Galaxy S3 announcement.

More and more companies moving away from replaceable batteries, cuase unibody design is d new flick.

Iphone, Nokia Windows Phones, now HTC.
Only a matter of time before Samsung jump onboard, hell, d GS3 mite very well be UniBody.
Fortunately on wp battery is nothing to worry bout. But saying that, i still have an extra battery in my pocket incase of emergency situations when i rel hammer my phone during d day, and have to work overtime past 6, and cyah afford to stop and charge. That situation is extremely rare though. My phone usually lasts till the next day on heavy use. So overnight whiles i sleeping, he geting juiced.

If android keep sucking batterylife as it does, that non-removable battery rel grimmey in true.

^^^ Exactly.   For serious power users on Android, a spare battery is almost a necessity, especially in light of the mediocre battery-life.

I would like to be able to replace the stock battery with a higher capacity one at any time.
Your only alternative with that HTC is to have a portable 'power bank' charger, which is essentially an external battery-pack with USB ports, that can charge anything that uses a regular USB cable.

Make sure the 'smtp' settings did not change...

Can't remember them offhand, but just Google 'hotmail pop3 settings for Android'.  Shouldn't be too hard to find.

Instagram for Android Nabs 1M Downloads, Prompts iPhone Twitter Spat

The release of Instagram for Android was music to many people's ears, as excited Android users downloaded more than 1 million copies of the popular photo-sharing app in less than 24 hours.The free app was released Tuesday on Google Play, formerly known as the Android Market, and has been a runaway hit with Android users.

Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom told The New York Times that the app was seeing 2,000 signups each minute following its debut. More than 430,000 Android users, meanwhile, had already signed up to be one of "the first in line for Instagram on Android" during a pre-registration period that began on March 25.

Useful Cloud Storage Apps For Your Android Phone Or Tablet
« Reply #835 on: April 16, 2012, 11:46:26 PM »
Hey Folks

I just wanted to share some useful Android apps that will help you sync files between your desktop, phone and tablet.  Very useful for those that don't want to full their SD cards and also a good option for backing up files.

Here are some good ones:

1. Box
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.box.android

This is a very popular one.....

"Box for Android and Android Tablet lets you view and share files from anywhere!
Box provides simple, secure sharing from anywhere – letting you easily store files online, send big files quickly, access content from your Android phone or tablet, and collaborate with others"

2. Dropbox
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dropbox.android

I've been using this for a few years. A very nice and simple option.

"Dropbox lets you bring all your photos, docs, and videos anywhere.
Dropbox is a free service that lets you bring all your photos, docs, and videos anywhere. After you install Dropbox on your computer, any file you save to your Dropbox will automatically save to all your computers, your Android device, and even the Dropbox website!"

3. Ubuntu One Files
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ubuntuone.android.files

Linux is NOT required for this service.

"Ubuntu One Personal Cloud the freedom to access and enjoy your content your way
Ubuntu One’s files app for Android gives you the freedom to take your files, photos and more with you and access them on the fly. An Ubuntu One Free account is needed and you get the basics plus 5GB of storage for free. Once set up simply download our free Android files app and you can secure and manage your photos, files and folders directly from your phone anywhere in the world."

4. SugarSync
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sharpcast.sugarsync

"Have you ever been away from home or the office and realized you need a file that is on your computer? SugarSync puts ALL of your data from all of your computers right at your fingertips…anytime, anywhere from your Android device. With SugarSync, you get free cloud backup that you can use to sync files, share folders, and access your data directly from your Android device. If you like Dropbox, iCloud, or Carbonite, you’ll love SugarSync."

5. CX
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cx.android

This one still needs some work but keep an eye on it.

"CX.com is the hot new Cloud Service that lets you Store, Sync, Share, Discover and Collaborate on your content with friends, family and co-workers like never before.
With CX.com and our new Android App you'll discover an exceptional user experience and get 10GB of free online storage to play with. Bandwidth is unlimited so start uploading and sharing today."

Free VOIP calls to the US and Canada
« Reply #838 on: April 19, 2012, 01:33:38 PM »
Hey Folks,

Just wanted to share this quick tip for those with friends and family in the US and Canada. Pretty much everyone knows about Skype and other similar services that offer pc to voice calls. Most offer calling services to phone lines with different rates on Skypeout as well as an all you can talk plan from Magic Jack.

I noticed today that there are a number of free Voip apps on Google Play that now allow you to make Voip calls directly from your Android device to land lines for FREE. Check out these two apps, just tried Nettalk and it works well....

netTALK
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nettalk&hl=en

FreePP
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.browan.freeppmobile.android&feature=related_apps#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwOSwiY29tLmJyb3dhbi5mcmVlcHBtb2JpbGUuYW5kcm9pZCJd

(Also noticed that Magicjack is now free for Apple iOS users, no sign up or cost...http://content.usatoday.com/communities/technologylive/post/2012/01/free-calls-with-magicjack-turn-ipad-into-phone/1)
