Pretty amusing discussion so far.  :laughing7:  I like that pic MessiaaH posted.
It is true to some degree.  Android users do  see themselves as smarter than average,
and with good reason.

...and my battery optimisation efforts have borne fruit, as I can safely get just over
19 hours on a single charge, and thats with moderate wi-fi usage, constant GPRS usage,
regular suite of phone calls, SMS, hourly email pull-downs, some music playing.

I am quite OK with that.  It's enough to get through a full workday without needing to recharge,
and while at work, I forward all calls to my work phone, and if the battery goes low, I just
charge it while driving home, just as I used to do with the N900.  Big deal.

Actually, when I think about it, that's better than what I used to get out of the N900 on
a daily basis, and consider the fact that the N900's LCD didn't consume nearly as much
power as the AMOLED screen on the SGS.

That kind of usage I can certainly live with.  I have absolutely no problem charging once a day.

Fact is..no matter the OS, these batteries cannot keep up with the demands that our devices
put on them.  The tech needs to improve.  Big time.

...and please...lets not turn this into an Android vs WP7 thread.  I don't understand
why these tech-related threads always have to turn into a motherf@#king FISH MARKET
because of a select few people ALL THE MOTHERF@#KING TIME!!!

I was looking for more wp7/android comparisons They both looking good. I'll probably go with android though, I need proper multitasking now and I like the app library.

Woody...I think this commenter said it best:

'The whole point of the article is that the phones are so closely matched in the categories that neither is necessarily better than the other. Its your job as the consumer to read through the article and decide what is more important to you. Do you want a flash on your camera? Go with the focus. Do you want a better social networking experience? Then go with the captivate. Do you drop your phone all the time? Go with the metal backing of the captivate. As far as call quality, battery life, screen resolution, camera, etc. the phones are pretty much the same. Maybe now you need to go read an article now the two different operating systems, because that is the next major deciding factor.'

Not sure where you could get a 'cheap' Captivate though...eBay might be the best bet for slightly used one.

...and the problem with 'waiting' is that 3 months down the line you'll still be 'waiting' because something else
a little more uber will be announced.  Bite the bullet and buy one now yes.  It could always upgrade to the newer stuff.  Them dual-core phones are going to be super-expensive as well.  You willing to pay $600+ US for
an unlocked one?

I think the captivate is like $3200 in a cell place in price plaza

i cant remember the name but its on the same side with subway abt 4 stores down

as Arc said if you wait to buy those new ones better be prepared

to sell a kidney or part of your liver  cuz they will cost mucho dinero

plus we not sure about their real world performance yet

eg. overheating problems, driver optimization etc...

Those dual core ones will be well outside my budget. Captivate for $3200 in Price Plaza?? Know the name of the store? I could give em a call. Would have to make sure it wasn't something like this lol....

http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/01/keepin-it-real-fake-mini-galaxy-s-gazes-meaningfully-skyward-n/

I thought the Captivate was a stripped down version of the i9000, looking similar though.
