The issue is, random crashing of various native apps on the phone.

In my case, it was, : Browser, d App Alauncher, the email client, d settings menu, disappearing thumbnails from icons, and other things i cant remember. In addition android feels slow, sluggish, and clunky when compared to ios/wp. These issues i've experienced over a wide range of android devices ive tested, and configured.

Wyatt has pointed out his issues, d ones that come to mind are: Camera app crash when he was trying take a "cute" picture lol and end up missing d moment, and a few other things i cant remmber now (it in d thread, scroll back and read). And he using a Nexus device as u recommend. He also using a Kindle Fire based on android that had issues too.

And phoenix expereince a variety of issues as well.

All the issues were native features of the device, so u can rule out third party app.
Which is why me and phoenix suspected exchange, becuase as much as we were using d native email client, is d only non-anroid variable we could see that MITE be causing the issue. But that has since been ruled out, and we're left with just an out-of-the box android giving trouble.

And is not like it happen on all, d most stable and fluid device i've used so far is the GS3, that was d best android device i use.

And d issues are completely random and sometimish, trying to add an exchange account on a galaxy tab 2 10.1, d thing crash 4 times, d email add setting page. (Which is another thing that make me start to look at exchange) and on d 5th time d thing add fine, without doing or changing anything.

So all in all, android on a variety of devices just unstable, each device in it's own way.

So these are the issues 3 technical men on gatt experience, that some how is we doing something wrong, and nothing is wrong with android.

As I said before the most you could do is try a hard reset and update to the latest version of android. If your devices still crashing a lot then perhaps you need to return it?

^^ Done all of that, still android gives issues. Tried hard reset, trying returning for new one, try different one, is juss android. Like i said, it sometimeish, is just a matter of if u willing to put up wiht it's sometimeish nature to benifit from it's features, or not. Personally for me, it's a hell no. Certain clients quickly went iphone, and others becuase of price and good deals digicel giving dem, decide to try it out for a while. But all CEOs thus far as rejected android.
Some even remain on blackberry :S And honestly, i cyah blame dem. lol.

Just waiting for local carriers to get the HTC 8X and Lumia 920 to offer some more choices.

Yup return is definitely in order. Settings menu crashing pa? That is definitely some faulty hardware there. Maybe a bad batch of devices. It happens. Especially when u deal with the volume Samsung's dealing with.

Yeah why waste time with Android when you have a better alternative. It works well for me, but if I was having issues like that I would switch.

Nah awesome, you would/should be aware of the mobility pilot that we conducting since last year... All the android devices have the same issue, and people with personal devices have them as well... I'm doubting all is faulty hardware... If it is Samsung and Asus have some serious qa problems...

let me also say that my experience is largely with  tablets (tab, nexus, transformers, primes etc)

The tab was the worse, totally unusable but I did not remove the default UI.. The prime is the best with the least crash's but at least once a day and more when I start to jam it

I'm just trying to figure out if the issue could really be caused my something other than the os itself

I also dont believe is a bad batch because all the devices i test eh come from the same batch, and samsung windows phone devices running on d same android hardware, and dont experience these issues.
And apple deals in massive volumes also, i've not encountered 1 ios device that behave like this.

I know bad batches does happen sometimes, but in my case is not that, because d type of hardware, and the timeframe of testing, and the variety, just dont add up. Also, the batch that alyuh getting in trinidad, is not d batch we getting here. And also like wyatt pointed out, when he did his research the Internet was littered with reports like this about a variety of android devices.

I've seen windows me and vista crash on perfectly fine hardware, hardware that work perfect with windows xp and 7. So it's not far fetched to see how the issue can be d OS.

Can Android itself hold all of the responsibility for these issues though? I mean you claim that the OS is sluggish and unstable, but stable and fluid on the S3.

Could it be all those modification that manufacturers do to their products?

Its not fluid on the GS3, but it's the best i've used thus far, it was plenty better than previous android devices i've used, but still does not hold a candle to ios/wp.

As far as stability goes, the gs3s seemed more stable, but d larger percentage of them did crop up with problems.

we coudl blame samsung or htc, but wyatt using a nexus device and experience d same shit.

D only 1 common denominator between all of them is d core OS, android.

And even if we saying lets blame samsung, the lionshare of the android echo-system is samsung devices.
So to the vast majority of the world, the Galaxy line of products represents the best android device you can get.

In any event, android is to blame. IOS and WP so stable and solid becuase it locked down and closely controlled.
Which is why wp8 impressing me more and more, because they opening it up and it still remaining solid. (Windows 8 being even more impressive becuase as much as it not opensource, u CAN do whatever u want with windows 8 and it still rock solid.)

But android, being open by nature, is exposed to a shitload of these issues. Which is exactly what i experiencing.
So it comes with pros and cons, Pros is, u can do whatever d hell u want with it, con is, reliability, instability, sluggish. And im sure every version of anroid it will get better and better, but they eh dere yet. Every version always "fix" android. But WP was running buttery smooth on my HTC HD2.

So if is core android os fault or not doesnt really matter, at d end of d day, the devices unusable for me, and alot of other ppl (which is why apple still getting on bad, even doh i think the iphone hardware sucks, macbook air hardware rel good doh, but ironically that's d device that not selling lol).

Edit:

The only reason android get so big, is because Samsung and HTC didnt have to pay for it, because Google took stolen tech and provide it to the masses. Now microsoft is making more money off of android than google, because every single android oem out there (sans motoralla) is paying microsfot royalties for each android device sold because of patent infringement. Which explains why google recently launched an all out assault on Microsoft, in addition to fearing Nokia and WP8.

Android has evolved alot since it's inception, but until they fix Stability and Fluidity issues, its a no go. And Fluidity has been my 1 concern since d start, but after much time using d OS i realize stability is a major concern as well.

So now that you've made your point, can you kindly transplant your Android-angst to another, appropriately named thread?

This thread is to extoll the virtues of Android, its ecosystem, apps, features, tricks, and devices.

I'm pretty sure most of us don't really care for all this useless banter.

Can you take your aggravation elsewhere please...or I'll do it for you.

I'll only ask this nicely, this ONE time.   :)
Have a nice day.

Or you'll do it for me? boy suck ah egg eh lolol.

Reading your post it was going nice, yuh kindly ask that i finsih d rant on move on no problem atal. Yuh hada put in bout yuh go do it for me, and u go only ask nicely this one time? Stueps.

As far as my aggravation goes, it is quite valid for this thread, becuase we was discussing d issues back and fort, if somebody had recommend a solution that actually work, it woulda turn out nice, but as it turns out, d recommendation of a nexus device doesnt seem to be d solution, and i cant go run cyogen mod on ppl thing.

Fair enough it had a good bit of ranting, so no problem moving on, but u can take d rest of what u say and wine on it.

i was done with this thread but... since i'm a mod i'll do my job and clarify something:

the OP of the thread said this:

I thought i'd start off a thread that will chronicle everyone's experiences with their Android OS device

so yea... i was posting MY experience... so was messiaah... and wyatt... then suddenly... flames...

btw Mez... what you mean by annoying? what you looking for?

Try any one of the following launchers...

There are a ton of others.  Just do a search on the Play Store for 'Launcher', and you'll see what I mean.
