Unfortunately that's incompatible with my Galaxy Mini, will have to wait til the One X gets here to test it out.

Why not? It allows me to watch movies, videos and listen to music i have on my PC without having to load them onto the phone itself.

Well for that....I use es file explorer and mxplayer.

ES File Explorer can map to network drives to access media from the PC.

MX Player plays pretty much every media file you can throw at it. Like VLC for android.

Still....I seldom do it. Since if I am at home....the phone is the last device I would use to watch videos or such.

XBMC also has an app for your droid that controls your HTPC (if you're using XBMC of course)

Slamming, what is your setup?

I tried out the ES Explorer setup last night and it kept disconnecting from the network drive. So i will have to look into something different. It's only a convenience though so i can work on it whenever.

I also tried VLC Direct Pro and that seems to be working better, as a remote for VLC and to stream media. However i don't like its buffering technique, it continues to count the time as it buffers even if nothing is playing/showing so it looks like there is a big skip every 30 seconds or so.

Will look at the XBMC solution when i get home later.

XBMC ftw for any htpc solution.

And xbmc apps available for ios/wp/android to control the unit. You can also control via web browser, or dedicated hand held remotes if u want.

MX Player doesn't buffer which makes it great. I was impressed by that myself.

Can't understand why ES Explorer would keep disconnecting from the network share.

Is your network share on a Windows machine or a linux based one? I had some quirky behaviour accessing linux shares but it worked fine with Windows based shares.

ES and MX is a winning combo. Sometimes I watch out whole movies when doing some mundane chores away from my PC. No disconnects whatsoever. Trick is you have to have a decent access point. Them Linksys from super tech won't cut it.

It's on a Windows machine.

It's probably because of the router, i'm using the ARRIS crap that FLOW gives as it was already wireless. I need them to change that as i cannot connect and configure it myself, but it's convincing my mother to call as it's under her name. >_<

Anyone know where i can get my SIM card cut? Heard people claim bmobile do it. but i spoke to a couple bmobile reps, they didn't know there was even a different SIM around.

*laughter*  typical

Their Trincity outlet can do that for you.
It's where I got my S3, and they very nicely cut my SIM-card to fit it.

Just wish all the other aspects of their service were up to scratch.  :(

ES accesses Windows file shares with no issues. I am able to browse by Server 2008r2 shares and MX happily streams them.

Works fine with Windows shares here as well.

Had some strange issues with Linux where the shares would vanish from ES and couldn't not be found again unless you rebooted the droid.

go figure

Excellent update.

I must have been asleep at the keyboard for some weeks because I still expected the next Nexus phone to be from Samsung.

Not a big fan of LG, though they did impress me with their Smart TV LCD monitors some years ago.

Still, I had set my mind on springing for the next Nexus device so LG immc.

+1

Christmas gift immc

Can't hate those prices. Personally I was waiting to see if they were going to follow through with multiple nexuses to make my choice, but the specs are pretty good and like I said the prices are on point.

Not impressed with LG either... my last experience was well... a phone that was turning into a brick leaves a really bad taste so i'll probably take this with a grain of salt...
