that is excellent news...

i'm currently doing research for a new rig and realised that the 570 was my best bet but i dont want to spend 350 :(... hopefully the 560 fills that little gap nicely

With no SLI support on my current rig (and no intention of upgrading to Core i7 too soon) I would have to remain vigilant of the price of a GTX 570 as a faster single card is my preferred option. Still the 560 is good news and I hope it comes in at the value price point that the 460 has created.

I'd recommend to anyone looking for a single card solution that packs a serious punch to look no futher than the amd 6950.

It performs similarly to the 570 which is $50 us more AND there is the added ability to unlock to a 6970 normel normel.

aye show me where you getting that 6950 for 50$ less... (from a good brand)

cuz when i was looking @ cards i saw the 570 for 350 and the 6950 for 340... which is what had me looking at the 570 cuz it does perform slightly better

***edit***

ok i just found the visiontek for 300.. hmm will def look into that... cuz i've used visiontek before and they performed well

HIS on Amazon is a flat $299us, confirmed to be unlockable, whereas the cheapest 570 out is $350 on the same site.

6 5star reviews for the HIS on amazon, that's good enough for me.

Now doing some reading though and its a sad, sad state of affairs for AMD. This used to happen with my 5850 crossfire setup in BC2 where anytime there is an explosion or heavy smoke frames would drop to the low teens for maybe 5 seconds then spring back up.

I thought SURELY that this would have been not a problem anymore after a new generation of cards and so many driver releases later but sadly, it is.

With my nvidia cards, explosions of all kinds, running through thick smoke etc leaves my FPS unaffected.

*Hugs nvidia cards tightly*

AMD, I have lost respect for your cards YET AGAIN.

PS: FYI, I retract my 6950 recommendation.

I havent seen reports of similar issues in other games. Probably if you dont care about BC2 you will be fine.

BC2 is my favourite game right now so that issue is pretty serious for me.

About 5 people complaining in one forum thread is a 'sad, sad state of affairs'?

It seems like someone be hittin that drama-juice a lil too hard.  :laughing7:

I'm sure if I look hard enough, I can find threads with Nvidia users complaining as well.

THOSE users getting problems.  I am not.  The only thing that affects my performance
is an unstable CPU overclock (which would cause the PC to lockup/bluescreen anyway), and I
solved that since I had my 5850s...yeah, since last year.

Thus far, I have had ZERO problems with these two 6870s...and ZERO problems when I used a
single 5850.

I feel allyuh just out to bash AMD because it seems like the 'in' thing to do.

That's the thing with me and amd cards. What can go wrong usually goes wrong for me.

In explosions and smoke I would get massive slowdowns. Notice I said in bc2 only eh. Other games were generally fine. With my current setup though I run through with impunity.

But arc I want you to test bc2 with explosions and smoke close range and see what I mean.
